Considering that she committed a premeditated murder, the penalty for that is so harsh that adding a hate crime label could hardly add anything useful to the case but only muddle it by adding something both unnecessary and inflammatory.

I saw her crying in court yesterday on tv.

She's crying for her lousy self. She couldn't give a rat's patoot about her victim.

But then - of course - she IS the victim ! After all, she's black !

There was no explanation why she was not charged with a "hate crime."

I would think that reason is that she didn't assault him because he was white. She only used "white" to describe him after the assault. She ain't racist; she's just incredibly, numbingly stupid.

Of course not. This was a black person who killed a white person. "Hate" only exists in the reverse case. Cite for me an example when black killed white and "Hate Crime" was added to the charges... I have all day.

Seriously, I doubt it was a hate crime. She probably didn't hit this guy, or leave him to die, because he was white, but because she was a moron, and doped to the gills to boot. Her mentioning his race was probably just a matter of identification, not an expression of racial hostility. All this, at least, is my surmise.

But it does serve to remind me of why I, a former believer in hate crimes laws, have since changed my mind. It's just too subjective a standard. Besides, murder should be murder, assault should be assault, and so forth. If--God forbid--someone murders one of my relatives, I couldn't care less if they did it because they're black or because of the $20 bucks they were carrying. I want that no-good sucker put under the jail, forever. And I don't give a hoot in hell what he was thinking at the time.

Ms. Mallard commited several crimes that night, none had to do with race or hate. She was druged up and or intoxicated while driving a vehicle. She was involved in a hit and run. She caused bodily injury. She held someone illegally after returning home and having sex. She assisted in the death of the person that was held illegally. Afterwards, assisted in desposing of the body. Never hearing that loose lips sink ships. This girl has serious stupid problems.

I don't think saying "I hit this white man" constitues as a hate crime.. whether or not the reverse is overused is not the issue. I'm white and depending on the situation I refer to some of my friends as "that white guy" stems from an Offspring song but I don't think she left him there cause he was white or hit him on purpose because he's white. She's just dumb trash that is gonna get what she deserves.
