I'm proud that my husband is joining our shul to go to Israel in a few weeks on a mission. They will be visiting Hebron because it is our city. The local Chabad House rabbi is making aliyah with his 10 children. Religious Jews run towards Israel in her moment of need.

Over the last 15 or so years, there has been a trend toward religious Zionism in the ultra-Orthodox community, whereas during the '60's and '70's and long before that, this group was very strongly anti-Zionist. The rise of the Shas party in the Israeli government had a lot to do with making the haredi community more politically savvy. Unfortunately the Shas people showed they have no better ethics than any other politicians (which is to say, NONE).

The "Neturei Karta" is the last holdout of anti-Zionism among the ultra-Orthodox, but they are dwindling, and they were always on the kook fringe.
