Iraq on Tuesday presented the Arab League (AL) with a five-point demand which includes suspending oil supply to Israel and the U.S., allowing Arabs to provide weapons as well as volunteer army to support the Palestinians, according to a copy of the statement obtained by Xinhua.

Iraq on Tuesday presented the Arab League (AL) with a five-point demand which includes suspending oil supply to Israel and the U.S., allowing Arabs to provide weapons as well as volunteer army to support the Palestinians, according to a copy of the statement obtained by Xinhua.

The statement called on Arab countries to immediately suspend cooperation with the U.S. on the war against terror till the U.S. admits that the Israeli aggression against Palestine is terrorism.

The statement also demanded Arabs to halt oil supply to Israel and the U.S., close all Israeli embassies and consulates in Arab capitals and cancel all forms of relations with the Jewish state.

In the statement, Iraq also called for supporting the Palestinian intifada (uprising) with all kinds of weapons, on top of which are anti-tank weapons; Providing "generous and immediate" financial support for Palestine and granting permission to an Arab volunteer army to go to Palestine and fight against Israel.

Earlier Tuesday, Iraqi Acting Foreign Minister Humam Abdul Khaliq said Iraq was ready "to cut off oil supply to the United States, jointly with Iran and all those who decide to do so among Muslim oil producers, to protest against Israel and the U.S..

Iraq's ruling Arab Baath Socialist Party on Monday urged fellow Arabs to use oil as a weapon against Israel and the United States.

Directly or indirectly, Iraq has been among the top oil suppliers of the U.S., though the two have been sworn enemies since the 1991 Gulf War.

Iraq's strong rhetoric followed a AL decision on Tuesday to hold an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Wednesday in Cairo over the escalating crisis in the Mideast region triggered by Israel's incursion into several West Bank towns.

The latest Israeli actions, which included a siege of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's headquarters, have triggered strong reactions from the Arab world, including Iraq.

Iraq has demanded the United Nations to allocate 1 billion euros (some 930 million U.S. dollars) from its oil revenues to support Palestine.

It has also organized a 6.5-million-strong "Jerusalem Liberation Army" which vowed to fight along with the Palestinians against Israeli occupation.

Excellent. The more kooky demands Saddam makes, the less diplomatic fallout we suffer when we take him out.

Interesting that the first source for this demand is Xinhua.

Who would stand to benefit the most from stirring up the Mideast against Israel and the U.S., hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

For those that thought "the Highway of Death" was something, I can't wait to hear the cries from that crowd once we drop a few hundred Daisy Cutters on Sadaam's 6.5 million man army. We can give the Pali's southern Iraq to live in once we're done.

Xinhua frequently scoops Reuters and AP with stories. I see it every day. Maybe it's the time difference, but they are often first.

They don't seem to lie about hard news like this either. I don't trust them for internal Chinese stuff, but in foreign affairs, they are excellent.

LOL....like any country will put themselves in this position. A position which would lead to a bigtime depression for that country. Not to mention being placed on the quack list.

Thanks saddam you made my night.

If the UN diverts one penny to support "Palestine," we should withdraw from it that day.

And require it to leave US soil, root and branch, and good riddance. As an Islamic institution it ought to have been in Baghdad all along.

We were nice enough once to let them Nationalize our oil fields - ok as long as we get the oil. Try to cut off the oil now Arab League, and you will quickly learn that Carter is no longer President. They know better, Saddam is just trying anything he can think of to avoid the *ss kicking he is about to get.

That is because these are a special army of miniature soldiers... very tiny and hard to see. Well er, truth is, Sadaam is preparing to use these tiny soldiers as weapons of mass destruction. They are biologically engineered, they are each capable of lifting several times their own weight and have actually bioengineered some very deadly weapons into their bodies. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST....

Sadaam's weapons program has produces a miniature army of ants. carpenter ants. he raised them in his own secret "ant farm" kits, that he bought from an old "radio shack" science fair display several years back. they are massing on the borders of israel NOW... vicious, powerful and over six million strong...

Of course the Jews have recently taken in a shipment of extra large, very hungry anteaters from australia, it should make for a very interesting confrontation between the armies of madman hussein and the "special ops" guys that just arrived from australia....

This presents some interesting questions. (And I don't have the answers.)

1. Is the theory that Bush is behaving the way he is because of a threat received during last fall's anthrax mailings true?
2. If so, is Saddam threating the rest of the Arab leaders with the same threat?
3. If so, how will they react?
