I could not believe my eyes how many stores are out of business on Rodeo Dr., Wilshire Boulevard and all around the city of Beverly Hills. It is super depressing

Does it make me a bad person that I am having an attack of schadenfreude?

Our day trip took us about 3 hours away. I love traveling the countryside admiring all the acres of farmland. On the way home we took a different route and visited some American Legions Posts.

Oregon Ends Its Experiment With Decriminalizing Hard Drugs
Townhall ^ | thread posted by Blood of Tyrants

It didn’t take long for Oregon to realize decriminalizing hard drugs was a bad idea.

On Tuesday, Gov. Tina Kotek, a Democrat, signed legislation that recriminalizes drug possession, reversing Measure 110, which 58 percent of voters approved in 2020. By August, however, 56 percent of Oregonians disapproved after a major uptick in overdose deaths and addiction in the state. Lawmakers from both parties got to work drafting legislation to reverse the measure.

Those of you in work force- how would this impact your place of employment

Those is california - what’s the local buzz?

California fast food workers stunned as restaurant closes without warning over $20 minimum wage: ‘Only the beginning’

New York Post article ^ | thread posted by by george76

Another California small business and its workers have seemingly suffered at the hands of the state’s newly enacted $20 minimum wage.

...

When making their way to work Monday morning, Navarro and her team learned upon arrival that the restaurant owner had made the decision to close its doors for good.

The owner, Loren Wright, told local Fox affiliate KMPH that this was the “last thing” they wanted to do, but knew by Friday night the business likely wouldn’t be able to absorb the wage hike and didn’t “want to ruin their Easter Sunday.”

The new California statewide legislation went into effect Monday and enforces a $20 minimum wage for restaurants that have at least 60 locations nationwide, except those that make and sell their own bread

Two mines in North Carolina are the world’s only producer of the quartz necessary for semiconductor manufacturing

Tech Spot article | Thread posted by Red Badger

Why it matters: Ultra-high-purity quartz is an essential component to semiconductor chips, and the only places in the world that can meet this need are two mines in a small North Carolina town. The mines’ owner, Sibelco, is investing $700 million to expand capacity, but is that enough to keep up with AI-fueled chip demand?

Spruce Pine is a small town about two hours drive northwest of Charlotte, NC. You can get to the general area via a number of ways, depending on your point of origin, but for the last stretch of the trip, you need to travel down Fish Hatchery Rd. It’s a two-lane rural highway, as depicted in Google Maps, set amid a pleasant scenic backdrop

These are spot on!

And not just in backwoods Appalachia. Encountered mild culture shock when I moved to NC “city” many decades ago.

DJ it’s interesting the patterns each of us follow when visiting FR.

You and probably more start by checking pings

I consider the Trump Train my home thread and first check new posts since my last visit. I’ll respond to anything directed to me or of interest to me.

Next I check fR latest posts to (1) catch up on news (2) see if there’s anything I want to share here

Next I go to Telegram and check out Poso, Amir, and Dr Malone. Share a few things usually

Next X - see what’s new

I don’t usually go to Truth Social or the Bee as others post from there

A couple times a week (often longer) I’ll check FR mail and pings.

I had no idea. Somehow I thought all of our exotic materials came from siberia. We had a lot of shortages of chips, I don’t know if these are the ones. But they couldn’t manufacture cars without them.

I think it makes you a very good and honest person.

We’re all thinking it but you’re the only one brave enough to admit it publicly

Scary.

The Liberals are running scared that they can’t overcome Trump’s huge winning margin this time.

I hope they are right!
