NATO welfare leaches.

In Europe, the government employees can retire at age 50. They get free healthcare, free college tuition, and 12 weeks vacation annually.

The USA is subsidizing that.

Let the European maggots defend themselves and stop sucking on the USA tit. America is $34 trillion in debt. We are broke. /spit

“Why did the US deploy the Eisenhower and Ford to the Mediterranean when the Hamas-Israeli war broke out? One of those should have been a Euro carrier.”

The French sent their Charles de Gaulle to the Eastern Med for the war against ISIS in Syria, where they flew a lot of sorties, and delivered a lot of ordnance.

The French sent the helicopter carrier Tonnerre (Thunder) for the recent Gaza Operation, and the Brits have warships firing missiles against the Houthi’s in the Red Sea, but neither has sent an aircraft carrier. France has one and the UK two, and they are not always ready to go.

“Russia never had to be our enemy“

But Putin chose to be. He chose to try and brutally conquer his neighbors, and now Russia will have to pay a terrible price.

Not only will Finland and Sweden be in NATO, but so will Ukraine.

Russia is being effectively demilitarized. They have burned through most of their attack helicopters and older Su-24 and Su-25 jets, and now their front line Su-34s and AWACS equivalents are dropping like flies.

The contents of Russia’s old Soviet storage yards for tanks and Artillery are already over half moved to scrapyards in Ukraine. Russian graveyards have been filled many times over what they were from a decade in Afghanistan. The Black Sea Fleet has been driven from Stevastopol, and many ships sunk.

Russia is getting its ass kicked, in an historic fashion. Russia did not have to be our enemy. They could quit attacking any time they want, and just go home in peace. But Putin insists on war and enmity.

You can refuse to loan someone money, but if they really want to fight, you have to oblige them. Putin is a shoe in for NATO salesman of the year for 2024, continuing his streak.

NATO’s combined Defense budget of over a trillion dollars per year dwarfs Russia’s, and what Russia is capable of, even with the most extreme Soviet style wartime economy. It is a physically impossible task for the Russian Military, and Putin has condemned them to destruction from his golden palace and super yachts, because of his insatiable greed and lust for power.

He can’t stop himself, he has to be stopped.

You can socialism or national defense, you cannot have both, and the US has been subsidizing their socialism.

No need for anyone else to go into Ukraine. Russia hasn’t advanced more than a few km into majority Ukrainian territory in 2 YEARS and got smashed in short order when throwing the kitchen sink at Kiev. The only reason they made some advances in the east was due to many Russian supporters already on the ground.

The battlefield HEAVILY favors a motivated defender that knows and loves their land. As they attempt to go deeper into foreign lands where Russians are less accepted, the resistance from angry locals will make Afghanistan look like a tea party...

I have family in Scandinavia.
The Europeans love to lecture and look down on the US for not having their versions of heavily subsidized socialized medical care here. But they fail to point out that not paying their expected and treat-bound share of defense spending (2%) of their GDPs, allows them great latitude to do so while the US foolishly borrows from China and others to cover their share of NATO costs.

“And NATO allies answered the call.”

Ludicrous.

A regiment of cooks hardly qualifies as “answering the call”.

“Leaving NATO would be geopolitical insanity.”

Only for Europe.

The US would be far better off without that parasite sucking our lifeblood.

But if you think you can make a compelling case to stay, go ahead.

Yeah I wouldn’t want to make any crazy case for something like not letting Europe fall into the hands of our geopolitical enemy armed with thousands of nuclear weapons.

I mean who could make a case for that we don’t need any free trade with Europe we don’t need freedom of the seas we don’t need to be able to cross the Atlantic to a friendly Europe we don’t need the manpower or industrial production of Europe to stay out of the hands of our enemies who could possibly argue with you.

Are you really that ridiculous?

Huh? The Russians rooted Ukraine out of both Bakhmut and Avdiivka, two Ukrainian strongholds that Ukraine and NATO spent years fortifying and using to attack Donetsk.

For most of the past eight months, Ukraine has been on the offensive, yet Russia still gained ground in 2023, while grinding the Ukrainian military into powder.

Gee, maybe the Russians, quickly secured all the land they ever wanted out this war, and focused on destroying the Ukrainian army and de-militarizing Ukraine!

You're repeating propaganda anyone with any knowledge about what is happening on the battlefield knows is BS.

Anyone who does not understand the importance of Europe to the United States of America is an idiot.
It’s a shame that a lot of people here are peddling nonsense like this which would lead to disaster for our nation.
And then the morons just come back and say things like you have no case to make or you don’t know what you’re talking about when in fact they’re the ones talking like lunatics.
Europe is important to the United States the world is important to the United States sorry you don’t understand that.

Not an enemy, just freeloaders. And yes its time for them to be self sufficient with their own security. But it will be very important to keep the Atlantic Ocean peaceful & friendly. They are not our enemies. They are just taking advantage of the US because our US politicians sold out America. Rather than hold a grudge the cooler heads should work together towards good solutions on this.

Approximately fifty of them actually fired a weapon.

Most needed US forces to get them in and out of the country.

All required US forces to provide their security.

They were a burden sent for political purposes and were no help with the possible exception of the Brits.

No they don’t. Even if you can hit one, assuming you can get through the area defense, assuming you found it in the first place, a carrier is very difficult to sink.

It took the Japanese what, three sinking to sink the Yorktown? And carriers today are much more unsinkable than WWII!
