Medvedev is a peacenik who talks like that to try to set himself up to become Putin’s successor. It’s 100% a pose.
The whole point of these threats is to say “You can’t win even if you win, so be demoralized and give up.”
Just like our resident Russian propaganda artists. That’s how it’s done.
All true Americans, when threatened with nuclear attack, respond with a pledge to destroy our enemies if they even think about it.
Then we have the quislings.
That looks like a 5.56 mag to me. There is no step down on the barrel for mounting a grenade launcher though. Might be a Russian knock-off.
Sounds like what they said about the chances the Titanic would sink. before it sank
This is silly. There’s no outcome where the borders go back to 1991.
He's not Putin's spokesman. He's not speaking on behalf of Putin or the Kremlin. Wiki suggests that Putin forced Medvedev's so-called 'resignation'.
This Newsweek aligns with the MSM habit of quoting people like Medvedev who used to be President; this would be like our MSM quoting Obama because he used to be president. There's no real indication that Putin knew of or approved of Medvedev's opinion.
The following is from Wiki - so that means the deep state likely edited it to make it sound less negative.
Deputy chairman of the Security Council (2020–present)
On 16 January 2020, Medvedev was appointed to the post of deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia.[152] His monthly salary was set at 618,713 rubles (8,723.85 USD).[153] In a July 2020 interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Medvedev said he retains "good friendly relations" with President Putin, which was in contrast with the opinion of many circles that his departure from the role of prime minister was a result of a rift in the domestic policies of the two.[154]
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Medvedev has "reinvented himself as an arch-hawk", making a series of "shocking and provocative statements"[155][156][157] and "thinly veiled threats" of war against Western countries.[158] International analysts have described this turn as an attempt by the "once mild-mannered Medvedev" to "cover his back and shore up his political future" during the turmoil brought on by the war and Russia's increasingly nationalistic and hawkish political climate.[158][156]
They make it in 7.62x39, too.
Hmmm, London, Washington, Berlin, Kyiv. Hmmmm.
Amen!
With Biden in the driver’s seat, I’m not so sure.
feh...
There is less chance of Russia losing this conflict than there is of the sun coming up in the west tomorrow morning.
Okay, so what's the downside of this? Do we really need Washington?
Other than that, Russia has not “invaded” anything; they are conducting a rescue operation.
IIRC, Medvedev was the guy that Obambi was caught with on open mike, saying to tell Vlad he’d have more flexibility after the election.
MAD will not be too good for Pooty-Poot.
Ukraine either surrenders or tens of thousands more Ukrainians die and Ukraine will either lose or territory or cease to exist.
It's way, way past time to face reality and stop wasting money in Ukraine and/or letting the elite use Ukraine to launder money.
True. The Russians saved the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine from genocide.
