In SC it’s people voting for Graham for the following reasons.
1. He delivers the pork! Many people benefit from that pork!
2. Too many GOP’ers come primary time convince themselves they’re going to be the big hero and take him out. Therefore his primary opposition is diluted.
3. He’s ex-military (Yes I know he was a military lawyer. People saw JAG on TV so it had to be exciting and full of life-threatening daring do! So he’s a rough tough hero!) No one bothers with the details!
4. He says enough conservative stuff not appear as bat shit crazy as a Rat.
5. The low-info voter knows his name. (That’s a significant number of votes!) People are lazy and vote out of habit!
6. Even with all his warts, picking a Rat in the general election in this day and age is unthinkable!

Election fraud is real and widespread.
Lindsey Graham received 1,369,137 votes in the 2020 general election. 54.4% of the total vote. His closest competitor (Jaime Harrison) received only 44.2% of the vote.
Even if fraud were involved, I think it’s reasonable to assume that a million Republicans voted for Lindsey Graham.
