Meatball is a doofus
This should be a “Babylon Bee” story, not a real news story.
It's pointless. FSU is good, ACC champs, undefeated. But that doesn't mean ultra impressive (top 4 team) by virtue of the fact that they have that undefeated record while playing a total of only 2 teams that were good enough to make it to the season end rankings. Other teams did a better job of put-up-or-shut-up even with 1 loss (but played 3, 4, or 5 teams good enough to be ranked by the end of the year).

Did the NCAA really want to let a team into the final four that would most likely have been slaughtered in the semi-finals?
Agreed.
But avg IQ being what it is, we all knew ahead of playoff teams announcement that there were 5 teams and 4 slots.
That meant there were always going to be a sizable chunk of unhappy fans arguing (tilting at windmills) that their team got shafted.
Please do not call them “Florida.” Unless you want to start something.
Florida is a college that doesn’t take money from the state.
Florida STATE on the other hand does.
The second-stringer will be back for the bowl.

They did last year, but they won in the first round before getting crushed in the finals.
FSU's defense is legit. They beat two SEC teams this year, including one good one (LSU). The committee was in a no-win situation, and someone who was deserving was going to be left out. I don't like basing the decision on an injury - if the the team earned it, they earned it. I'm not advocating for FSU; I just don't like that being a factor.
As a Gator, I agree 100%. I hope FSU crushes Georgia.
well, i look at it differently than you.
do you have any idea of how much revenue and business goodwill have been lost by this ‘decision?’ i haven’t quantified it but maybe DeSantis has. anyway, it could be in the 100’s of millions over time.
DeSantis looking out for his state’s business. i call that smart.
It is really hard for me to root for either one of them. In my world, I’d be happy if they both lost.
Yeah I guess they’ve got all their other problems in the state squared away, so they can p*#s away a mil on this nonsense. Its a GAME, Ron
I don't like that argument against FSU. The fact that they beat ranked Louisville in the ACC championship even though they were on their 3rd string QB is impressive to me. That game made them look like they could be a repeat of 2014 Ohio State winning the natty on their 3rd string QB.
But as impressive as FSU was in that game...it was just ONE GAME. In the end we're still talking about FSU playing only two teams that were good enough regularly through the year to be in the final rankings. That's simply not a good enough resume to be in the top 4 (when other teams played more ranked opponents, particularly Bama whom FSU fans are mad at but Bama beat twice as many ranked opponents that FSU did).
And Bama lost to one, FSU didn't. And that game against Texas wasn't even close, they were dominated. They also struggled late in the year to beat a very mediocre Auburn team.
That’s a waste of tax payers money
Wasting tax payer money on a pointless ain’t going anywhere litigation. It’s childish
That is a VERY good point. Last year’s Championship game with TCU was a dud.

I just don't get into style points. My two main metrics are win-loss record (really big yay to FSU, Michigan, and Washington for going undefeated, and good yay to Georgia, Bama, and Texas for just one loss) and who they accomplished that against (really, really, really big yay to Bama on that, ...., but ummm FSU well, I guess they played a couple of teams worth mentioning).
I don't pay attention to highlight reels. I pay little attention to win margins. I pay little attention to how deep each team had to go onto the bench. I pay little attention to location (wins on the road a little better than wins at home, but not much). To me all of that is a bunch of talk with little there there. But what's done on the field and who you did it against speaks volumes. FSU gave me only half of that (impressive record) but not the other half (unimpressive strength of schedule). Bama gave me almost the same impressive record as FSU, while also impressing me a lot with their strength of schedule.
