You make two important points in that one sentence.
First, a lot of these jihadists really are inbred. See here for example
Second, Russia historically takes harsh action against people who take Russians hostage. Little things like erasing towns, city blocks where the hostage takers live, killing everyone involved, etc. And they could not care less about international opinion.
We all know Putin is a monster (and to forestall the comparison to Ukraine, we all know the Ukrainian government is corrupt as all get out). Ticking off a monster is generally a bad and stupid idea.
Just my humble opinion.
Hamas is an Iran backed organization and Iran is a client state of Russia, as is another terror regime, Syria.

Oh, interesting. Even beyond what I thought - they actually have friendly diplomatic relations with the terrorist organization itself. But no surprise given their long history of friendly relations and support of other terrorist regimes.

Not blaming the victims here but it looks like a bad idea to me to try to bring about peace by doing something (Not wearing burkas, dancing with non relatives, drinking alcohol) that one side (Hamas) considers to be the sign of a morally degenerate, and decadent culture.
There was a time that (Soviet) Russia was VERY persuasive about getting terrorists to release Russian hostages. A visit to the kidnappers’ closest relatives would do the trick.
