“Space is hard.”
Pretty much that. America and the entire world has been grateful for Russia’s magnificent space program that for 10 years after the Shuttle shut down provided the world its only access to the International Space Station.
This mission failed. Space is hard.

—”NASA too busy with Globull Warming and making Muslims feel better about their historic achievements. Oh…and making Stanley Kubrick films.”
All that, and NASA really needed to have their very own ‘LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS’ to justify shooting ranges, ammunition storage facilities, and many fun toys.

Cool story<{>I was in high school...Only one teacher had the TV on for her students...I cut my class and she let me into her classroom. My homeroom teacher said I was defiant and I had detention for a week. Some much for “the good nuns”...Nevertheless...it made it more memorable.

The real tragedy is that it could have been a manned mission. Maybe next time Putin and Shoigu will be on board.

All that Soviet space propaganda nonsense for all those years, yet they never landed on the moon.

It's crazy how all the very-geriatric Cold Warriors on these pro-Youke, anti RuZZZZZZiiiiiaaa threads still think Russia's the Soviet Union, setting up to conquer the world or something very close to that, even though Russia hasn't yet conquered the hyper-corrupt, busted up, ramshackle craphole of Youcrayne after nearly two years of trying. Crazy.
Every Russian I know - and I've known quite a few - is an assh*le, Ayn Rand-worshiping, rapacious, amoral capitalist as are there Youcraynian cousins.
Watching "The Hunt For Red October" and "Red Dawn" too many times and believing them to be true can really cloud perception I guess. . .

It's amazing that people who profess to be 'America First' are quick to loudly proclaim past American failures in Space.
Certainly not America First.

The completely opposed thoughts here are comical to watch.
Russia is evil, and going to take over the world, while at the same time retarded, drunk, and incompetent.
I only knew one Russian girl, and she went on to get her PhD in ChemE.
Boomers are pissed they didn’t get “their Great War”.

The largest disaster of the space race isn’t close, but isn’t listed. The launch pad explosion of the Soviet’s N1 wannabee moon rocket July 1969. Wiki says nothing about fatalities in its terse coverage but IIRC about 200 ground crew died. Estimated yield was roughly comparable to Texas City blast. Some debris found up to 6 miles away. Their manned moon program never recovered.
