When I started down this road in an effort to save my child, I did a ton of research (looking primarily at medical studies) and saw his name coming up over and over again.
I was able to track him down at his private practice and he was the first person that helped me actually understand the issue. My daughter was, and still is, incredibly smart, accomplished, loving, hardworking, and has a wicked sense of humor. When she shared what was happening to her, I took it to heart. She was not a drama queen; something had gone horribly wrong and I knew, in my core, that it was medical, not mental.
I’m sorry now that we didn’t take her out of the country to his clinic. I was trying to work within the system in the US. That was a whole other nightmare.
Definitely, look him up. He is a voice of reason in a sea of crazy.
Your description of your daughter is similar to mine. Although she has her share of mental issues as well.
She got it into her head that she was a boy in college. She went to her college doc to get on testosterone. He ran a test on her hormones first. They came back and ALL of her hormones were essentially zero (I showed them to my daughter’s regular doctor back home). Her college doctor said “Yeah - these levels are abnormal, you should probably get checked out - you may have a tumor. And here is your prescription for testosterone.”
I think the college doc followed up with her once a couple of weeks later.

If her hormones are outside of the normal range (a depleted reservoir is definitely outside of normal), it can cause major issues not just mentally and emotionally, but physically.
Get her to her regular doctor immediately. At a minimum, in her present condition, she can suffer from adrenal fatigue or worse. Then get her to an endocrinologist right away.
Something is seriously wrong. As an example, women who suffer from post-partum and manic breaks have depleted adrenals.
Please do not delay. From one parent to another, please intervene and get her tested.
