Gee, was anyone really expecting a different outcome?

“Keeping the firearms on set save was her responsibility, not Baldwin’s.”

I hope you don’t own a gun. It is always the responsibility of the person to check the gun (not to rely on anyone else) and to never point a gun at someone unless you plan on shooting them.

And yes 99% in movies the pointing of guns at someone is movie magic (split screens or scene transfers), not real. And in the case that of the 1% it is the guns are not real. He should have never allow a real gun to be used on set.

The only reason he stuck to real guns is because the actors and director was using them recreationally. That’s why the gun was loaded.

She is liable, there is no maybe.

She is responsible for approving the safety of every weapon on set, thats the definition of her job. Shes the armorer. Thats what they are hired to do. There is no maybe.

Alec is definitely liable as a producer who jointly ran the company that hired her.

Baldwin is guilty of negligent homicide and gross stupidity.

They want Baldwin charged for personal animus, and call it miscarriage of justice. There’s a chain of custody, and the actor has every reason to believe the prop is safe. You’re right, as a producer, he or his production company is going to get bent over in a civil suit, especially if he’s the one who hired Hannah.

He bought everybody off, so there was nobody to represent by the state.

It cost him millions of dollars, so that’s something. It’s also likely that his career is finished.

Look for Baldwin to make a series of in-your-face anti-gun public announcements soon. It may even have been one price of getting this thing quashed.

If there is a bright side, the producer is responsible for insuring the production and insurance companies aren't very kind to non-union shops with a history of fatal accidents. That may be the only downside to this whole pathetic circus parade.

Aw, y’know, could happen to anybody. Just life’s lottery at work.....

Or it would be if the outcome weren’t already rigged. Just pick the result you want, and work back from there. Reason, logic, and all precedence in law get a little tweak here and there and “Presto!”

Nothing to see here, folks. Neva happened, GI.

We may have lost one of the only two people that still believes in our just-us system.

Get ready for what we KNOW is coming.

I’m developing a large callous on my chin from all the jaw-dropping examples of our justice system completely unhinged. Criminal Justice was my field of study at University. Everything I thought I’d learned - turns out, there are no immutable rules of justice. All is now malleable based on the non-white color of skin, the size of your bank account, or the political agenda of the prosecution.

He used a real gun, because it was cheaper to use a local gun than fly replicas out from California. Totally about cost.

What about the young armorer? I've always thought she's most to blame for not maintaining custody of the many guns laying on a table. How could she not see live rounds in the gun she handed too Baldwin? Plus there were already complaints from some of the crew about the lax procedures on set.

Baldwin should have never pointed a gun at anyone and pulled the trigger. Plus, actors tend to trust those who hand them the weapon. I doubt many would know the difference in live, dummy, blank rounds. Not giving him an out, but film and TV armorers deal with this countless times with even more guns on set. Which also brings us to the policy of...

...NO live ammunition on set. How did that happen? Where was the armorer? Yes, I read some of the crew knew it was a real gun and decided to go plinking the day before with their own ammo.

Bottom line, the armorer screwed up by losing command of the props and a real gun. She should never fill those duties again, which is a shame since she is the Daughter of a renowned armorer.

I thought he settled with the husband, so who will sue civilly?

No matter what the courts say, Alec will will forever bear the Scarlet Letter of M, for Murderer on his head.
It will be similar to OJ Simpson’s status; free, but branded. We all know what happened on that movie set.

The law says that you are responsible for the gun that is in your hand. It doesn’t matter what somebody tells you when they are handling a gun.

He was supposed to go through the steps of opening the barrel and checking the chambers and and everything to make certain that what he is told, in terms of safety, is what the situation.

Being executive producer, that was doubly his job. The responsibility of the EP is to go through all the checklists that need to be checked off that day to make certain that all is well and good.
