“San Fran authorities seem to love to stab their citizens in the back..”

Citizens deserve it and must love it..they vote for it.

Local use of natural gas is greener than the converting gas energy to electricity, transmit it down lossy electrical lines, and reconverting to heat.

ICE cars, lights, etc., are very inefficient because they lose much energy as heat. That’s a good thing when you’re producing,... oh.... heat? Until the day when the grid is 80% greener than it is, this is simply bad for the environment.

What they’re really banning is living relatively “off the grid.”

I had a new gas furnace installed, bought it and trolled those in the heating business for a hungry employee. I ended up saving $3,000 on the install, and money on the purchase price of the furnace. I helped haul the old one out and the new one in. It was an under the house install. It took less than 4 hours. His employer, had they did this would have made $5K for one days labor for a journeyman and an apprentice. Then add on the permit to turn off the gas and use the gas sniffer after it is on. HINT, you use a Crescent wrench and rotate the on/off switch like at the water meter.

I do (and have done) massive amounts of work around our house. I really just don’t trust companies to do a good job. But, I don’t think I’d tackle a furnace. I’m not afraid of the gas connections, but I’m gonna need someone with the expertise to get the job done right. Sounds like that’s exactly what you did...and saved a good bit of money.

They are going to get people off gas onto electricity, then they will “legislate” the amount of electricity people can use (air conditioning, etc). Talk about CONTROL!

I wouldn’t do a furnace but water heaters are very easy to install.
