One can see pipe caps on the one used.
This one looks like a much nicer design.
Dunno, I’m seeing a gap between the “pipe caps” and the body. I don’t know either way, I’m just posting that pic as some sources are reporting it as ‘similar’. I’m waiting to see higher resolution pics of the actual shooter’s gun in question and speculating in the meantime.
Have you ever actually tried to make gun powder or are you YouTube educated only? Or did captain Kirk give you that a recipe?

I got electric ignition of gunpowder to work, @50 years ago. I used small light bulbs and DC batteries to explode charges of gunpowder underwater. The filaments, without the glass, would flare, and fairly reliably ignite the gunpowder.
Plenty of fireworks readily available in Japan to provide a source for gun powder.
Based on the video, the first barrel nay have misfired/malfunctioned (noise, smoke, no apparent effect). The second barrel functioned enough to fatally wound Abe at that range.

I fired a home made shotgun once out of a tube when I was a Yute, just to see if I could.
I used Sodium Chlorate saturated paper towels that I ran through a dehydrator rather than black powder wanting to go 100% non-conventional. (mom’s oven, long story there, the second time didn’t end well) and let me tell you it could have easily killed a man, I used a rocket igniter to set it off remotely.
