National response? They're going to catch this guy and find out he has a litany of crimes in his record but that the New York City prosecutor let him loose under the guise of "bail reform".
The only national response needs to be forcing New York to remove their unconstitutional laws infringing on citizens' inalienable right to keep and bear arms.

I saw a movie several decades ago about the national response to NYC crime. It seemed to work well usually.

Actually he has a point. The ATF ought to go after gang-bangers in particular.
That would require them to actually do something that's dangerous though, so they won't.
