Amazing how so many of these conservative luminaries are profoundly shocked to discover what was glaringly obvious to so many of us little people four years ago.

BINGO.

...but it was clear enough for ordinary Americans to see they had a stark choice before them: continue being ruled by a political class that hates them—supported by a media establishment that hates them, too—or try putting someone in office who will fight the establishment on their behalf.

You need to read this article... Trump IS the anti-establishment candidate...

Wonderful comment. And it rings so true. I found Free Republic in October 2015 after I saw a certain guy coming down the escalator. So I was never part of the Tea Party movement, just knew it existed and was pushing the right things.

You’re correct, MAGA/Tea Party is not a cult. Nor was George Washington a cult, but his troops and the nation as a whole grew to love the man for his results and ability to achieve the seemingly impossible.

I did not disagree with that in any way and I did read the article. If Trump with our help changes the GOP then Trump becomes the establishment. Just the establishment we prefer over the current GOP.

The author is basically saying:

“I am a poor judge of character, lousy at political analysis, and therefore get everything wrong. For example, here I am writing this long-ass article thinking everyone will want to read it, even though I just admitted I don’t know what I’m talking about. Wrong again! Boy am I dumb!”

If that is his summary according to you, how are we to know that his current judgment of character isn’t poor or worse?

Term limits help by making for slightly more turnover, but the effect is marginal, not transformative. Some years ago, Florida adopted term limits (two terms, ten years at most in the same office), but the ban does not prevent politicians from long careers that chain together multiple terms in a progression of offices. Nor does it prevent an elected politician from securing a well-paid appointment that has no term limit.

I suspect the country will face at least a week of intense rioting if Trump is declared the winner on election night

Hillary admonished Biden to not concede no matter what the outcome, that practically assures there will be riots no matter who wins.
