A Massachusetts restaurant is repealing its “racist” dress code, with the owner apologizing to protesters for not realizing the impact of his policy, according to reports.
About 100 demonstrators gathered outside Nathan Bill’s Bar and Restaurant in Springfield to protest a policy that prohibited baggy blue jeans, long white T-shirts, do-rags and baseball caps worn backwards.
A picture of the dress code spread across social media, with many criticizing the policy as directed at African Americans.
Restaurant owner Robert Grossman met with the Pioneer Valley Project, the city’s NAACP chapter and City Councilor Tim Allen and agreed to end the policy, Masslive reported.

I knew a girl who had been a seating hostess is a large Chinese restaurant. Some of the waitresses would ask her not to seat certain people in their area. They didn’t want the disruption, absence of tips, and the occasional leaving without paying. On the way out these customers would sometimes tell the cashier they weren’t satisfied and were not going to pay.
I think he could have saved himself some trouble if he had said dress code was business casual for both ladies and gentlemen.
Sorry if I don’t want to see anyone’s underwear showing with their pants at their knees while I’m eating regardless of their race, color, religion or sexual preference.
That’s just it. These days you can’t do what you want with your own business. We have lost freedom of association. A private business should be able to ban anyone for any reason, even race. That is freedom, and the government has taken that away under the guise of civil rights. Only the government should be banned from discriminating.
Ahem, gentlemen do not wear hats of any kind in restaurants. Yes, I am old school.
Just wait, some loser will test this by showing up in pants that show his underwear and rear end and be wearing a shirts with obscenities on it. No doubt the owner of the restaurant will meekly allow it.
The whole point of the down-the-ass pants is to show off prison time, as prisoners are not allowed belts their pants which would then fall down their ass. These pretend gangsters want to mimic the style but not the substance of it — no belt.
