(WYMT) - Eleanor Carol Barr, the wife of U.S. Representative Andy Barr, died suddenly on Tuesday night, according to a statement released by Congressman Barr’s Chief of Staff Mary Rosado.
Congressman Barr, a Republican representing Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, married Carol in 2008. She had previously served as the executive director of the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship in Lexington.
Together they had two daughters, Eleanor and Mary Clay.
The statement mentions that Congressman Barr may release a more detailed statement at a later date, but that right now his focus is on his two daughters.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell released a statement regarding the death of Carol Barr.
“Elaine and I are stunned and heartbroken at the news of Carol’s passing. Her warmth filled whatever room she entered and her contributions made Kentucky a better place for all of us. And to Eleanor and Mary Clay, Carol was a wonderful role model and source of constant love. We send our sincere condolences to Andy, their family and his staff at this terribly painful time.”
Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles also released a statement saying, “As a Scott County native, I have known Carol my entire life,” said Commissioner Quarles. “Carol was a valued member of our community, a wife, and, above all, a mother to two daughters. Every time I saw her, she had a smile on her face, which shined like the Kentucky sun. I mourn the loss of my friend and cannot imagine the level of grief Andy and his family are experiencing. My prayers are with Andy and his daughters during this time. I ask that all of Kentucky join me in praying for them.”
Congressman Hal Rogers released the statement below about Carol’s sudden death.

She was 40. Last year I lost a close friend who was 41 and also leaves behind two young daughters.
Very sad she had a stroke or heart attack very young you just never know!!
Excuse me, but are you saying that she died of either a stroke or of a heart attack? Because I didn't find any "cause of death" in the article.

She passed unexpectedly. So it was either a sudden medical event or a tragic accident. Sucks for the family, 40 is way too young.
That may be, but Trump Girl Kit Cat made it sound as though it had been established as a fact that Mrs. Barr had died of either a stroke or a heart attack - which confused me, since there had been (unfortunately) no mention of the "cause of death" in the article.

Nothing has yet been revealed about what happened, so you’re absolutely right to call out anyone who posts assumptions as if they have the slightest knowledge. They don’t have a clue. The reporting on this has been *very* cagey.
When someone her age dies suddenly it is usually a stroke or a heart attack I guess it could have been a terrible traffic accident however not having the accident in the news then it probably was not a car accident or a murder!!

I find it totally pointless and even misleading to already post statements suggesting that there was this cause of death or that.
We simply don't know at this point in time.
