Wear masks, social distancing, wash hands, disinfectants etc... keep elderly and those with compromised health in quarantine or away from public. Those who test + for C-19 dose them early with hydroxychloroquine, zinc, Z-pac or other anti-biotic. Open the damn economy back up already.

From the article: Earlier in the interview, Fauci said that there are currently enough coronavirus tests for most states to reach phase one of the White House’s reopening protocol — despite protests from some governors to the contrary.

I know many freepers don’t like to hear it, but we need mass testing in order to open the economy.

I don't like to hear it, and we don't need mass testing. Why is the solution always set for the distant future? Is that so there'll be more time to kill the economy and ensure Trump doesn't get a second term?

people can be reasonably certain the folks they’re interacting with are not carriers. Until then, many people will avoid public places out of fear.

Mass testing won't fix that.

The truth (and most people do not want to hear it) is that _nothing_ will remove that fear in 2020--just not going to happen.

Freepers can yell and scream and point fingers and call names--but it still won't happen.

Time for adults to start facing reality--even when they don't like it.

We were told to flatten the curve. This has been done.

Why are we chasing the models that continually ar wrong? What happened to “exponetial” growth? Remember that word?

Testing people lets you know what is going on, but from what I am seeing the CDC FDA and the Individual states are doing nothing but contaminating the data. They are throwing any dead body at the count regardless of reality. We are only testing those that are basically going to the hospital, what about the others that are asymptomatic or just have a mild case? I’m not seeing any shift to clean these numbers up, therefor I will not rely on them.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/general-information.html

Common Human Coronaviruses

Common human coronaviruses, including types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold. Most people get infected with one or more of these viruses at some point in their lives. This information applies to common human coronaviruses and should not be confused with coronavirus disease 2019 (formerly referred to as 2019 Novel Coronavirus).

Antibody (proof of recovery from prior infection) testing will have to be able to discriminate from other common COVID infections, with sufficient sensitivity and specificity, to be able to usefully help guide reopening economy and other "communing" human behaviors. Usefully ramping up meaningful testing may be harder than it would seem. We will see.

Keeping the economy clamped down is dangerous in its own right however. This "Black Swan" has provoked a collapse in the "Liquidity Trap" economic state we have been in. Very Bad things can happen, including ushering in return to Dark Ages. I hope that this does not happen, but it is possible.

There is no way I will submit to “mass testing” unless I show symptoms. This is just another form of social control.

Fauci is a quack who has always wanted to be a politician so that he can make policy.

Thank you. Okay. Fine. So show up for work half an hour early and get tested. Same with shopping or whatever the business you are going into does. Get tested and then wait out in your car.

'Course, some employees are going to whine and complain that they are starting 50 dollars in the hole every day, but screw 'em. Fire those whiny little crybabies.

And consumers might complain that every time they go to another store they have to shell out another 50 bucks before they go in. But screw 'em. Nobody needs their money.

I understand that, but there will be many businesses and employers who won’t let you in. They have their freedom, just as you have yours

You don’t need testing to remove the emergency rules that punish you with prison or fines for going to one friend’s house and having dinner.

You might need testing to bring up consumer confidence to the point that the economy recovers fully.

Two very different things.

You should be able to go camp in the mountains if you want to without going to prison.

You should be able to go to a small cafe that seats 10 people without going to prison.

You should be able to go outside simply to enjoy nature, rather than to engage in physical exercise, without going to prison.

Small business owners might be able to make their May payments with the help of the most risk-tolerant in society, while the national test infrastructure ramps up. They won’t be able to make their May payments on zero point zero dollars of revenue.

Don’t care I’m self employed and good enough at what I do that this will not be a problem.

See page 44 of pan-flu-report of 2017 for “categorizing” pandemics. We are in what is referred to as a “moderate” pandemic, under HHS terminology.

I think a good start would be mandatory antibody testing of every blood sample taken by every medical clinic within the US. The costs would be minimal and would do a great deal in identifying the presence of the virus and susceptible people within our population. I know for a fact that the cost could be minimal but I do know that there are greedy hospitals and clinics that jack up the medical lab expenses over 500%. I used to run a chem 48 for less than $20 and a serological test should run at cost for less than $3 per test.

Any antibodies we get from virus 1 will protect from virus 2, based on how similar they are. I think, for example, that having been exposed to multiple coronaviruses in the past helps with protecting against any new coronavirus.

-- What happened to "exponetial" growth? --

That happened. Exponential growth is alarming or not depending on th size of the number being exponented. 0.5% inflation is exponential. So is 0.1% inflation.
