So far, my small business, which if my self and two managers, i have seen my customer’s make changes, the only industry that scaled down was the oil and gas, the aggregates have actually picked up, since we process that data, it will be an increase over the next two months.
One of My managers, who has a side business selling dog bandannas that she makes, lost it’s 100-200 a month income. It dropped to just 20 bucks. Fortunately, i needed to find someone who could index for us online because the title industry hasn’t slowed down, it is increasing too, so now she can sleep because because i am paying her for two job’s. At a time like this, it helps when your businesses business is actually helping other businesses eliminate the part that is paper in their business in any area they need it. We had clouds in our closets back in the 90’s with customers that had dedicated dual ISDN line’s to access the retrieval system we built for them using MySql and Java/SOAP.
Times sure have changed, and i agree, if this exercise destroys a business, why save it, shouldn’t a new form of that business that would survive such an exercise takes its rightful place for the better of our society?

Count our blessings... Nancy’s rejected partial list:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3828142/posts

Also, on Monday, Nancy proposed a 1,100-page bill that did provide some help for America’s workers, small businesses, and corporations. Most of the bill, though, was given over to Democrat wish-list items. If coronavirus had hit America with a Democrat in the White House and a Democrat majority in Congress, by Monday’s end, a new law would have

* raised the federal minimum wage to $15,

* subsidized student loan debt,

* provided more fun;ds for PBS,

* funded the IRS and the Postal Service,

* mandated race and gender diversity for corporate boards,

* implemented same-day voter registration

* required airplanes to be carbon neutral in five years,

* as well as a host of other initiatives pandering to social justice, environmental, and union concerns – and all of it would ostensibly have been done to protect American workers from coronavirus’s ravages on the economy.

“I’m sure their billing departments aren’t shut down.”

Yes they are; they are considered “non-essential” and have been sent home. MANY are struggling just like the others having been sent home without work.

Just about everything is all geared to the coronavirus and if their specialty is say, surgery, they get sent home without pay.

Ok.....and what does that mean for the people out of work due to no fault of theirs, due to no fault of the place they work for, due to a virus from another part of the world?

Is this something some of you can contemplate or is this just a massive virtue signal to show that you are philosophically too good for this?

No one said to “love” that this even had to happen. But save us the harrumphing and puffing, people. A lot of people on FR helped fuel the panic that brought this about. So learn to live with the consequences, and go from there.

Thanks.

She didn’t file taxes though because she didn’t owe.

These trips to the store for my mom and older aunts are getting to me :)

The rationing makes for multiple trips.

They were all very good to me growing up...

Don’t Social Security beneficiaries pay taxes & file income tax returns?

Many do; many do not. But the payment is not for filing taxes; it is to replace lost income. SS is not stopping payments because of Coronavirus.

"It’s my understanding it is actually 2.5 Trillion. Or 10 Trillion Quarters."

We're going to have to bring in a bunch of aliens from outer space, to help us count out all them quarters!

(And they'll all have to wear alien masks, in case any of those quarters has germs on them.)

So surgeons can’t step in and help treat the virus patients? And there is no one seriously keeping track of the famed $500 aspirins and everything else while the billing office is not operating?

I don’t want to seem too snarky, but I really wonder???

I get your sentiment. You are practical and will put your energies towards things you can control, that you can do something about,

But let’s go off topic to talk about abuses for a second to illustrate what is happening.

The Admissions scandal. It was a headline earlier last year. Probably it blew right past you. The subject matter of the scandal is not what’s important, it’s the magnitude and blatant in your face abuse that grew over decades.

Once the elite universities had a policy that if you were high IQ, an eagle scout, a medal of honor winner, etc. then you might be accepted.

But if you were rich or in a protected class, well then, now we’re talking.

Acceptance meant access to pathways leading to the very best jobs, positions, government office titles, etc. The elite universities provided pipelines to elite positions and to the ....

ARISTOCRACY.

Ok? So now these pathways were first enhanced, like starting back in the 70s with “my dad is really really really rich as in richie rich” or “I am black and my grandma was a slave”.

Yep, no problem.

Fast forward to today, and the initial practical tolerance of class and sympathy for the downtrodden mushroomed into every conceivable abuse imaginable.

Today we have humanoids with male appendages claiming they are female so they can compete in women’s sport, stomp all over the female athletes.

Why?

For the scholarships.

The scholarships are another vehicle to elitism, to the ruling class, to the aristocracy.

This took 5 decades to evolve.

If a buck can be made faster and easier, Americans will find a way to do it. We’re good at that. Same with finding loopholes to climb into the ruling class.

Another easier example that most can understand:

A farmer works like hell to rid his patch of weeds. After a lot of hard work he does the math and takes pride that his patch started at 10 weeds per square and is now down to less than one weed per square as a result of his hard work.

Fifty years later after the farmer has passed, a buyer for the patch hires an appraiser who measures there are about 20 weeds per square on average. The patch is overgrown, it’s a pile of crap.

The buyer buys the pile of crap for pennies on the dollar and he does so because he has a buddy in something called ‘The Fed’ who permits him free money to tend his pile of crap where the word ‘tend’ means trade it with other members of the buyer’s club. And the buyer takes his Fed buddy to lunch every day, to extravagant parties, to quickies on Epstein Island, etc. The Fed Buddy says to his buyer buddy, “You’re doing well, do you need any more?”

Ok, so being practical and ignoring the problem can work well for time, maybe a long time. But at some point we see piles of crap springing up all around us.

We’re there now.

To add insult to injury, if we complain we’re called socialists. We’re not socialists, we are capitalists but the Fed and buyer buddies and their Oligarchy world think they are entitled ownership of the word ‘capitalism’, like they copyrighted it or something, and everyone else is a socialist.

Huh?

You see the game here.

I’m all for increasing unemployment benefits for a few months. That can help my employees who will be getting laid off. How much money am I supposed to loan just to make payroll when nothing is coming in?

I could sell my building, liquidate and retire. I hear Walmart and Amazon are hiring.
