Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, four days after the mayor attended a Miami event with a Brazilian government official who later tested positive for the virus.
Suarez confirmed the positive test Friday morning in an interview with the Miami Herald.
“It is confirmed that I have the coronavirus,” Suarez said. “I did test positive for it.”

After speaking with medical personnel, I will continue to follow Department of Health protocol and remain isolated while I lead our government remotely.”
So if he sneezed or touched you how come you do not need to get tested only self isolate?

I think he is being a bit loose with the supposed facts.
Only the elite are getting tested.
It seems like somebody in high diplomatic circles is a super-spreader. There’s been a lot of high profile people infected, it seems.
Because self-isolating will prevent you from giving the virus to others regardless of whether you have symptoms or not. If you have symptoms you will be tested but it’ll be like being tested for the flu as there is no “cure” other than the usual.
This is exactly what I was thinking a couple of days ago after hearing about Tom Hanks. When a few high profile people get it and recover from it, some of the hysteria would hopefully die down.
He’ll be retested, there are lots of false positives and negatives with this test taken days apart.
Hanks hates Trump. Now he’ll have a giant platform.
