"I can assure you that NO district has a plan or the ability to hold ANY offsite classes."

Anybody and everybody can "teleschool" now, as long as they have an internet connection. See "Khan Academy". I'm sure there are others, but KA is at the forefront.

Teleschooling is inevitable. Future on-site schools will be limited to lab, shop, band, sports, and similar activities, and perhaps tutoring.

Change is always difficult.

At work (now retired) I was part of a team that did impossible things every single day.

The trick was that we worked together, listened to all the ideas (including those that made us uncomfortable), tried one alternative after the other, admitted when something did not work, and kept trying until we found something that did work.

After a couple of years we learned the “trick” and could find good alternatives earlier.

A couple of things we learned:

—No negative attitudes allowed. If someone says something is impossible they are out of the team for that project.

—Radical solutions are tried _first_, not last. It usually turns out that the hurdle was caused by being too cautious.

—The best idea is usually the one nobody thought of in the first pass, it was too radical.

—The “leader” for implementation had to be a volunteer, usually the person who thought of the idea. They were highly motivated to make it work.

—Success breeds success. After we proved we could do it a couple of times, everyone started to believe we could do the next change.

—You need a list of all the issues and problems, to make sure you know of all of them. That is the starting point, and btw the way you measure your success!

Every single person accomplished things _they_ thought were impossible when the team started.

Can we get rid of brick and mortar schools?

Of course we can.

One point. Do not assume that the CDC is not politicized with some officials and workers who strongly oppose him and support the players of the deep state.

A panic over an impending health crisis is one excellent way to see havoc in economic gains brought about by Trump’s policy. Those gains will be forgotten and any downturn will be fodder for the Democratic candidates. It will be used to bolster arguments for,
Universal healthcare
Basic income
Draconian climate change laws
Higher taxes
More government power of daily lives.

Those who are most vulnerable to this virus are the same population that is vulnerable to flu viruses. The same health practices to keep them safe during flu epidemics should be observed.

I worked with a team like that at Dow Chemical. We did great things. Then our boss got promoted, and the new boss wanted to "do things a different way". It was all downhill after that. It was great while it lasted. We learned the same tricks you found.....they work!

I used to do 10 impossible things before breakfast, now I think about one after supper.

Thanks for the memory.

***Yes, this is Rod Rosenstein's sister.***

This incestuous cabal will likely never stop trying to discredit Prez Trump in hopes of unseating him --- and allowing them to return to their rightful seats of power over the peasants.

They want to take care of us and are confused about why we don't appreciate their condescension. They may have to make us pay for our cold shoulder.

It’s time for the CDC to put out guidelines explaining what ‘self-isolating’ means...

I was able to score hand sanitizer at Walmart last night.

Looked like some of the very last, and was stuffed way back in the bottom shelf -- nearly impossible to see.

A little over 2 weeks, ago I bought the last 3 small hand sanitizers at our Walmart.

That day I ordered 8 refill bottles from Amazon, and they came last Saturday as they were on backorder.

Our Walmart has been out of the pints of rubbing alcohol and their gallon brand and brand name clorox.

JITD/Just in Time Delivery or OSWO. (Oh Shucks* We’re Out!)

All modern distribution systems are built around just in time delivery. If you quarantine a modern city for more that 48 hours, everything starts to run out.

*Another 4 letter S word works!

I think Tom Cotton was put in charge of coordinating responses, but maybe he’s not been very effective.

In any case, I’m seeing some plus sides to preventing gatherings and having people telecommute...send all the DC trash back to their home states or at any rate, keep them from getting together and plotting. I know they can still do it by tweeting, but at least then they leave some kind of a trail...

In other words, you did NOT work for government.

especially anything director Redfield says is a panic, he fudges papers. Did the same with the Ebola scare.

Best to have 2 weeks of food, water, and OTC Meds. Toilet Paper, sanitary needs and Bleach.

3. Prepare a Home Emergency Kit now. A large bottle of NSAIDS, Gatorade or another equivalent, Pepto Bismol or other antidiarrheal, and a number of antihistamines. These won’t prevent the virus but may help you survive it...If you can get a prescribed anti-viral from your doctor it may be helpful although not proven for this virus. Prepare to shelter in place for several weeks.

Good hints. Add a 90 day supply of your rx items and daily otc’s. We were put on a baby aspirin a day and a couple of calcium tabs a day by our cardios and fp. We have plenty of those. We have a bottle of antihistamines and bottles of Afrin.

We got impacted with the lower GI bug last fall while vacationing at Bodega Bay. There is no pharmacy or super grocery store there. I had some imodium tabs in our travel/go bag, thank goodness.

We recently ordered a bottle of generic imodium from Amazon and bought a small bottle of liquid imodium at a local pharmacy.

Something you can get daily and is free on a sunny day is Vitamin D. Try to get 30 minutes of sunlight a day. It is free and has dopamine to improve your mental outlook. Sunlight may be the ultimate anti viral.

Of course we can.

The best friend of one of our sons is a medical professional and his wife is a medical professional.

They are not prudes, but the liberal anything goes in California classrooms gave them the inertia to set up a computer classroom in one of their offices. They have home schooled their 3 younger kids in that converted office.

A couple of their Peers found out what they did. Now, they share it with other kids, and the other parents share the responsibility of maintaining structure and class behavior

We have a new friend, who was/is a professor at a major mba school, and he has set up a MBA degree with that institution on the internet.

That's right.

This newest iteration of the coronavirus "broke out" sometime in November, early December 2019.

So in the last 3 to 4 months...in our ever so small, tightly connected world, there have been 23 deaths that have occurred in 1st world health care countries.
Zero in the United States.
The rest...in 3rd world health care countries. And nearly all deaths have occurred in people who had pre-existing compromised immune systems.

Now, that's almost certainly going to change, at least in terms of mortality in the U.S.

Keeping in mind, that there were 19,624,052 nonstop travelers between the U.S. and the world in Dec 2018 (last Dec w/data).
There were nearly 3 million travelers to/from the "Far East" in Dec 2018 alone.
Over 700,000 people flew from China to the U.S. in Dec 2018 alone.

So with the 3 - 4 months this virus has been around, there were up to 80 million nonstop travelers involving the U.S. and approximately seven hundred thousand to two million, one hundred thousand who flew from China to the U.S. between November 2019 and now.
Yet, again, zero deaths here and only 53 confirmed cases. Not even enough to fill out an NFL football roster (including the practice squad).

With the amount of panic and hysteria going on right now...imagine what will happen when (inevitably) the very first person dies of Covid 19 in this country. There will be a melt down based on what's happened so far.

Then imagine what happens if 1,000 people in the U.S. die from it. There will be calls from Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, etc. for massive country wide quarantines and DAILY demands on why this is the perfect example and perfect time for the Federal government to take over everyone's healthcare. Many more people will fall in line with that demand out of irrational fear.

Now...if the total deaths from Corvid-19 "simply" match that of influenza in the U.S. for the year - 16,000 - 41,000, imagine the paralysis that will occur. The great depression will look like a minor dip.

If Covid-19 deaths in the U.S. are anywhere near 10,000 for the year, Trump will be blamed and too many that would have otherwise voted for him, will vote for the federal gov't to "save us" by taking over healthcare. The stock market is down some 1,800 points in the last 2 days alone primarily on the cases in Italy. If the U.S. has flu like similar death numbers, the rest of the world would presumably as well.

Look at what's happening now with 23 deaths in 1st world countries...and zero in the U.S. Nearly everything would be shut down. The stock market would tank. Grocery store shelves would be emptied out within days, if not hours. Etc. and so forth.

And this would all happen in a scenario where Covid-19 deaths matched the annual deaths from influenza.

Fear, panic and hysteria make people do some really crazy things. The media is loving this. Russia Russia Russia could not bring Trump down or drop his support. Nor could Ukraine Ukraine Ukraine, or Article 25, or Stormy Daniels, or any of the other coup attempts.

It's always a good idea to stay vigilant and prepare for the unexpected as best as possible, Covid-19 notwithstanding, but this current hysteria trajectory could very well usher in a socialist like Sanders.

Now, if Trump and his cabinet are lying to us...and there have already been 10,000 deaths in the U.S. and the bodies have been taken to area 51 to be incinerated....we'll, then we really are screwed, on many levels I would say.
