I hope so too!

I went out with some psycho a million years ago and she dragged me to a vegan place for a vegan “meatball hero” (my pop was born in Italy. Sorry pop!)

It wasn’t awful. But it wasn’t good.

So why would I choose it over the real thing?

BTW, she was on the heavy set side. That was the irony. :)

Now i’m on the heavy set side but at least I enjoyed real meat on the way getting there!

Besides being tasty, black beans with sausage and onions is very nutritious. Got everything you need. It’s also easy to keep on the burner while you have several adult beverages haha

I had my nephew over for a cookout on 7/4 and he brought some veggie burgers. I commented on them, yes it was snarky since he is a little know-it-all snot, and he bet me I could not tell the difference if he cooked them. I told him he had a bet and we settled on $100. He cooked both the meat and the veggie and made them to my order with condiments.

One bite of each and he owed me $100.

I like salty stuff, so I’d appreciate a nice cold one with a bowl.

“the product was not embraced by our guests as we thought it would be.”...

Captain Obvious to the rescue!!

I am particularly fond of both vegetables and meat. Particularly the meat killed on my land. Deer burgers are the best. We kill it, clean it, process it (after a three day bleed out of the meat that was on ice the whole time) then we grind it up and put in the freeze in one pound plastic packs. Our return on investment of grinding equipment was two years based on the price of hamburger meat that is inferior to deer meat.

Relative to vegetables I like them, they "aint meat" and deer "aint vegetables."

ps
Oddly I myself no longer hunt as I just got tired of killing unless it is vermin on my land. My dear friend is an avid hunter and does the hunting for us and we share the venison. I have zero problems with ethical hunters. I disdain poachers and those fools that take a "may hit shot." When you pull the trigger one must feel sure it is a kill shot. If not, you are not an ethical hunter. My friend does not miss. He is very selective on the decision to take a shot or not. He is most skilled with rifles as I also.

I had one of those Burger King things when they first came out on a wim. I got nothing against plants. I didn’t think it was horrible until the aftertaste kicked in and wouldn’t leave for about 6 hours. Some kind of smoke flavoring chemical that just doesn’t go away.

You and your friend sound proficient at killing :)

I’m glad it’s just for food!

I am Very Thankful for each and every person that shoots or kills or grinds or prepares the meat that I buy at the grocery store or a fried gives to me after their hunting trip.

I’ve never hunted but if it was go without meat or hunt, I’d be hunting :)

Don’t worry eventually they will substitute it for real meat without telling customers.

My niece used to tell my brother-in-law that he was out of shape. He would turn around and say “I’m in shape, round is a shape.” Couldn’t very well argue with that. lol

I will admit to trying veggie burgers when I first found out I had allergies. Amy’s are not too bad, especially the walnut ones. And mind you, I can’t stand mayonnaise, mustard or ketchup, so I eat them pretty much plain. Tofu is generally nasty. A large portobello mushroom cap sauteed in butter with salt & pepper tastes decent, but don’t kid yourself that it is meat.
I have discovered that fake anything never tastes like the real stuff. Either eat it, eat it in moderation, or find something else to satisfy that craving.

When you’re eating fake meat, it’s best not to think of it in relation to meat.

Think of it on it’s own, and it’s a lot more palatable.

I’ve eaten some decent vegetarians stuff, but it was nothing like meat. It was a nice alternative, but certainly not meat-like in most instances.

This is the big issue I see with vegan food.. Why does it always have to be fake meat? What's wrong with just doing avocadoes and stuff?

There’s nothing wrong with that. You’re right to ask the question. If you think about it though, people have just lost meat. A lot of them will naturally crave something that is going to fill in that gap, they’ll naturally want something meat-like.

I’d suggest they not shoot for that. Just shoot for something tasty. In truth I believe there are some products that have a meaty substance to them, but not many.
