The Spanish supreme court has granted two women, the widows of a Moroccan polygamist, the rights to widows pensions in a landmark ruling, claiming that polygamy does not prevent pension allocation despite it being illegal.
*****
The court ruled that both women were eligible as they had been legally married to the man but that they would have to split the pension among themselves, Spanish newspaper El Pais reports.

That'll be fun.
lol
I hope they don’t hasten the other one’s death.
It's a little known fact that the Spanish Constitution only has 7 amendments.
That was my next thought. “Mohammed, be a nice boy and take your auntie some of this lovely soup ...”
What is the technical name of one polygamous wife to another? Wife-in-law? Or do they just go by numbers?
lol
Insanity
Which is better: being a wife from a polygamous marriage and fighting over the pension, or being won in a poker game?
lol
I belief “co-wife” is a common description.
At least the Spaniards are good at building military hardware;

If you have two wives, do you introduce each of them as, "My better quarter?"
Yeah, I’ll bet...
Think of this. This is really a lawsuit against the first wife by the second wife. My understanding is that its one family. So this would be a lawsuit of one wife against her family. So, I am thinking that the money going to the first wife leaves the second wife out in the cold. And of course there are children, maybe from both wives. I assume there is a will as well. How are the rest of the holdings split? In some countries the wife cannot be taken out of the will. That does not consider two wives. And in a male dominated society, is the first wife letting her brother, father or son handle the money for her. And they are unwilling to maintain the second wife. Lots of issues.
I thought maybe “sister wife” like the FLDS members call them...
I read the book about the Chinese “poker bride.” Idaho, was it? Somewhere freepin cold and snowy.
“Sister” is the traditional address for all Latter-Day Saints women. Also Latin American charismatic church ladies, but that’s neither here nor there.
What about women “married” to one another? It seems as if each of them refers to the other as “my wife.”
I’ve noticed that, too-and Pete Bootiejudge refers to his partner as his “husband”, so maybe both guys refer to one another as “husband”? In either case, it isn’t right/normal-a “husband” is a man who is married to a woman and a “wife” is a woman who is married to a man...
I could never understand why a man in his right mind would actually marry two women. I can see being married and some men have affairs and even some wives allow men to have girlfriends. But one wife is enough. Two wives or more would totally drive me insane, especially in the same house.
