Elizabeth Warren responds after angry dad confronts her on student loans
CBS "News" ^ | January 24, 2020 | By NICOLE BROWN

After being confronted by a man questioning her student loan forgiveness plan, Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren dismissed his argument. "We don't build an America by saddling our kids with debt," she said on "CBS This Morning" Friday.

In the exchange, which was caught on video and posted to Twitter Tuesday, the father tells Warren that he saved all his money for his daughter's college education. "Am I going to get my money back?" he asked her, to which she said "of course not."

"So you're going to pay for people who didn't save any money and those of us who did the right thing get screwed?" he said.

Asked how she responds to him and others with the same opinion, Warren said, "Look, we build a future going forward by making it better. By that same logic what would we have done? Not started Social Security because we didn't start it last week for you or last month for you."

When asked if she was "saying tough luck" to those people, she said "No," but went into a story about how she was given a shot to go to college even though her family "had no money."

"There was $50 a semester option for me. I was able to go to college and become a public school teacher because America had invested in a $50 a semester option for me," she said. "Today that's not available."

Warren said to save the next generation from trillions of dollars of debt, the country has to invest again.

"We don't build an America by saddling our kids with debt. We build an America by saying we're going to open up those opportunities for kids to be able to get an education without getting crushed by student loan debt," she said.

Or Obama. Remember Joe The Plumber? His life was destroyed by simply asking a question.

There is a solution. Have the colleges and trade schools co-sign on the loans. If I were a school administrator, I’d certainly take a chance on a plumber. But a gender studies major? Nope.

Make unpaid student loans a reason to deny voting rights, that would cool their liberal jets.

“Sounds to me like Warren has come out..

AGAINST REPARATIONS”

Good one!

But she always speaks with forked tongue.

She attended a special college by LYING about her identity. NOTHING she contributes to any dialog about attaining higher education has value.

There is a moral component that the father was inelegantly driving at, which she sidestepped.

The question is why is the cost of going to college so high and what degrees issued actually produce a benefit to the economy.

There in is the crux of the issue. Your degree in “near eastern studies” is not a value added proposition... it’s a hobby.

Professors making over $450,000 to teach one class is a huge reason why they are saddled with debt.

My daughter worked full time for two years after high school before going to college, worked part time through college, and elected to go to a state university instead of any of the private universities where she was also admitted, all so she would graduate without any student debt. She also selected a major that would actually qualify her for jobs.

I guess I should have told her to go to the most expensive school she could get into, party down for several years, and not worry about the cost.

Will somebody please tell this arrogant little tyrant that it’s not her money! She has no right to a single penny of it. Why doesn’t she empty out her bank accounts and assets first. When she does that, and all of her like-minded colleagues In Congress disburse all their wealth, until they are pennyless , then they can talk about taking (stealing) someone else’s money and using it to buy votes. She should not show her face in public without somebody screaming “ It’s not your money! Keep your hands out of my pocket Pocahontas, I’m not glad to see you!”

Yes, the same reasoning could be applied to car loans, credit card debt, and mortgage debt. Americans owe trillions of dollars in these other types of debts.

All of which can be discharged through bankruptcy. Student debt can not be. There's the rub.

The federal government should not be involved in the education system. It’s a states responsibility. As such, states should be the ones deciding whether to fund higher education, along with k-12. Then, let’s see which states will be willing to pay for the higher education of ‘kids’.

She's a typical liberal whore led by her emotions, pimping ideas simply in hopes of getting votes. In that latter respect, she's no different than every political whore who preceded her.

The tragedy is that, if she's elected, she'll try to keep her promises.

That’s exactly what it is, uncle moneybux is guaranteeing those loans for students. Schools are more than happy to enroll those students even if they need to create (more) useless majors for the other side of the bell-curve.

And comparing social security (which we pay for) to paying someone’s bills with my money is moronic.

The guy in the video is 100% on point. Politicians won’t make those types of points but normal people get it. I don’t even know what to add to what he said because he just got it bang on. Her policies are horrible and I really hope the country is not in a place where the majority agree with her.

Well, at least we know how our school children became so screwed up.
