never should have gotten to that point. the airport should have been closed. you don’t create an active war zone, and then fly commercial airliners through it. staggering incompetence on the part of the iraqi govt.

“This guy is full of crap. The plane was following the customary climb out pattern from the airport!”

You are correct. There are standard departures procedures which pilots follow with exactness. Since this was a time of heightened tensions I assure you those pilots were following those departure procedures with exact precession. That 737 was climbing out and away from Tehran. Its radar signature was huge. Its radar signature and direction of climb out was total information that it was not a warplane. In addition it would be under Iranian air traffic control. That airplane used standard procedure and would have obeyed any directions from Iranian air traffic control. That aircraft would also be squaking an assigned code given to it by Iranian air traffic control. That code tells one what you are.

Iran is lying but that is most normal.

Don’t think Iran is any less culpable in this case, but I repeat:

THE PILOT, THE AIRLINE, THE CONTROL TOWER ARE NOT BLAMELESS.

They were all goofy to try to fly through DEADLY FIREWORKS.

“Just like the Soviets excuse for shooting down KAL-007.”

Actually slightly different. That KAL flight did invade Russian Airspace due to an error of navigation. Those KAL pilots own this tragedy.

The Russian aircraft did identify the KAL aircraft but did not fire initially. He did fire when ordered. The man on the ground that gave this order owns this. I would hate to be that Russian pilot with all the guilt of this action. He just did his job and his job was great unnecessary death.

“Our air defense systems sent a signal to the plane and after ten seconds in which no response was received, it was decided to shoot it down.”

Signal, what? Voice? Interrogate the transponder/IFF, or what?

Yet despite this admission by the Iranians, the lying media and Democratic candidates will still somehow try to blame Trump for the plane being shot down.

Just like the Soviets excuse for shooting down KAL-007.

Arch-Conservative Democrat Congressman from Georgia, Larry McDonald was assassinated on KAL-007. The greatest crusader against Communism since Joseph McCarthy just happened to have been shot down by the evil empire. The back way out of my subdivision crosses the portion of Interstate-75 that is known as the Congressman Larry McDonald Memorial Highway in his old Congressional District.

Ok I know nothing about the physics of
flight. But I figure the missle would be
travelling much faster than a loaded commercial jet & at a different angle/altitude.
Cannot radars detect such things?

In fact Tomahawk’s flight profile is very similar to that of commercial aircraft.

As I said, I have no idea.
I just thought a fired missile would
be a lot faster & at different angle
than a commercial jet on take off.
But I know nothing about it.
