Yeah, and in the opposite direction of Tehran.

Were all of them Muslims? How many were secretly something else?

The Globe and Mail of Canada has a list and pictures of the Canadian residents on the plane. Some were visiting Iran for the “holidays.” Was there a recent major Islamic holiday?

The vast majority of the adults killed were highly educated—perhaps the kind of people helping the Iranian resistance from the outside.

Sun Sue: “The art of losing war”:

Always place a missile battery at the end of a civilian run way.

Eliminate all communication channels between civilian air control and military operations.

“That’s logical. Cruise missiles frequently take off from International Airports.”

LOL! Maybe we can trade them straight-up: Boeing ‘engineers’ for the Iranian air defense operator (wouldn’t want to be in his shoes).

Hmmm. Maybe the airport should have their take-off flight paths re-figured.

I dunno. I worked on development of an ATC radar in western Ontario. I developed a pretty good intuitive picture of the air traffic pattern, mostly into and out of Lester B. Pearson International Airport, and U.S. planes flying to between California and Europe and the between U.S. Coasts. Any departure from routine would have drawn attention. Apparently this plane was flying a perfectly routine pattern. The Iranian AD were nervous and suffering from itchy trigger fingers.

If they were going to initiate hostilities, they should have shut down their air space.

“Some trigger-happy, and overzealous, artillery officer gave an order that could not be called back.”

More than likely the TOR-1M battery was on full-automatic... meaning no human in the loop. The missile radar interrogated the target, got no response, and fired all on it’s own. When the system is designed primarily to hit fleeting targets like low-flying cruise missiles it has to be that way. Either the IFF codes were incorrect, the unit wasn’t working, or the radar IFF receiver was on the fritz. Take your pick.

Those clever Americans. How did they manage to make it look like they were taking off from a Tehran airport? Well, we showed them:E)

KAL-007 actually violated Soviet Air Space, briefly. There was an RC-135 (spy plane) flying a figure eight in the area. The 135 departed the area just as KAL flew in, in the direction the 135 had departed. The Soviet radar operators thought it was the 135.

A couple of years prior to that incident a Korean Airliner had violated Soviet air space for about 1000 miles and was forced down on a frozen lake. The commander in charge of that air defense sector was shot.

Because of poor miscommunications and a bad vector, the fighter sent to intercept the “135” only sighted it as it was leaving Soviet air space, and a few thousand feet above. He fired his cannon to alert the pilot, but the tracers would have fallen short of the aircraft’s altitude. As KAL-007 was leaving Soviet air space, the desperate ground commander ordered the fighter to bring it down with a missile.

Cutsome Salami should be good on a couple thin slices of seeded Jewish rye bread. With a side dish of raw herring covered with kosher sour cream.

May as well mix meat and milk. He’s not kosher. Don’t skimp on the mustard.

Doesn’t everyone build a “sensitive military site” right under the nose of an international airport!

“hose were MUSLIMS on that plane, perhaps all of whom were Shi’ite, and THAT is sinful in the eyes of the ayatollahs.”

THE ayatollah is Shi’ite.

this indicates a few things..

1- Their tech sucks because they have no idea how to employ it effectively. Russians might make good stuff but it's nothing but a parade boat if you're not properly trained how to use it.

2- Their communications sucks. nobody knew what was going on. Either they don't trust enough people to tell them or they just never thought of telling. Either way, it's a mess.

3- They don't have any cohesive leadership and no plan. Unlike the democrats, just hating the USA is not a strategy. China has a strategy, The mullahs never needed one because they never met serious resistance until now. I don't think they wanted to kill civilians, but this should indicate to the world that they are more dangerous and should not be able to possess a nuke. What happens when they get all worked up over someone pissing on a Koran, or getting stood up by the sheep on Friday night? Abdul blames the great Satan and launches in the evil jooos then Tehran becomes the worlds largest parking lot.

I imagine this went on in the plane.

"This is your pilot. Thank you for flying Ukraine Airlines tonight. It should be an interesting flight. I have been told that the Iranian military will be shooting rockets off that are intended to hit American bases. So, we are going to try to get the plane on a flight path to let you see this historic event. Sit back and relax. Look our your windows."

Stoopid pilot.

“Some were visiting Iran for the “holidays.” Was there a recent major Islamic holiday?”

Ramadan and Eidh elFitr are in April this year. When’s the Shiite Slash-Your-Kid’s-Face day?

The “holidays” for many were semester break. Apparently many of the victims were STEM Professors and grad students in various Canadian schools.
