When I see a row of burned out houses surrounded by surviving greenery I don’t think forest fire, I think power surges and smart meters.
They should be mounted on poles away from structures.
Home owners should be able to move their meters onto poles away from their homes.
The town of Brookline,Massachusetts (the town where Mike Dukakis got his start in politics) recently passed an ordinance outlawing oil and natural gas heating systems in new construction...commercial *and* residential.
It also applies to pre existing structures undergoing "major" renovations.

He said all housing should be compact and concentrated (as some liberal cities are doing) with high rises instead of private houses. More “efficient” use of water and sewage processing, electrical supplies and transportation. Helps climate regulation.
Government would much more efficiently make the decisions on everyone’s lives and housing. So chilling.

By the way, the “Projects” in major cities like NYC and Detroit became black misery areas and finally were demolished as failures. Tall, austere,uniformly depressing apartment building high rises to escape poor ghetto ramshackle housing.
