It would be very simple to hold a press conference with 51 GOP senators (minimum) stating that the decision to not transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate proves the lie that Pelosi and the Democrats have used to speed an impeachment vote through the house; that the President is an urgent danger to the republic and time cannot be wasted waiting on the courts to make decisions. He could then reference the amount of time it took the House to transmit the Clinton impeachment articles to the Senate and set that time frame as a deadline for a snap vote to dismiss if the articles have not been delivered.

I have to think that if this thought did not cross Mitch’s mind, it must mean he does not think he has 51 votes to dismiss and end this impeachment charade.

I hope I am wrong. If I am wrong, Mitch, please call Nancy’s bluff!

“Doesn’t everyone think this is a crazy moved by the democrats?”

It should have been expected by all. Perfectly logical from the Dem’s twisted point of view.

This is the end of the greatest political hustle in our history.

Once the Senate gets the articles, they can shred them for what they are, nonsense. For all the voters to see. The Dems would be fully exposed in their hate of Trump.

And then........worst of all for the Dems....an acquittal.

Along the way, if Rudi comes up with legit crimes from the Bidens that gets tossed in for the media to ruminate about.

Also, by playing keep-away, the Dems get what they need most, time to manuever and shape the battlefield.

This is a brilliant but warped move to keep the Dems relevant while they stumble towards finding a nominee.

Whom ever did believe that there would be a conviction? With Pence becoming President and just enough time to win the next election? Pence would gather all the Rep revenge votes and all the Independents’ sympathy votes.

I believe that Pelosi and Schiff had this hustle planned from the beginning.

Yep. We don’t call it the “vile, demonic Botoxian” for nothing.
Pure evil manifested in a somewhat human form.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave an excellent presentation with this speech.

I’m doing to include my list in this answer.

There are two components at work here:

One is the procedural “lawfare” assault on Trump. The delay helps the DemoKKKrats because they are seeking in court all of the Mulehead Grand Jury material on which to base NEW charges. They also are counting on some of the guys indicted in the Rudy-related Ukrainian scam to produce more material.

Two is the court of public opinion, which, as you rightly suggest, is where the DemoKKkrats are losing BIG. However, my sense is that they already figured they are as damaged as they can get, that they have already driven off all but their core supporters, so they must appease them.

I’m even thinking Botoxic knows she has lost the House next year, and thus they MUST to this now. However, Mark Meadows announced his resignation in 2020 today, bringing the total of Rs resigning/retiring to 23 (vs 10 DemoKKKrats, including Katie Hill and The Bullfrog, Elijah Cummings, who croaked). So while I am a LITTLE more optimistic about re-taking the House-—we got two good candidates in the TX flipped seats; Tom Kean in NJ; a great candidate in UT 4; and several others; we are still about 15 seats short of re-taking the House. (I am assuming that seats like Meadows’, which are solid red, will stay in GOP hands-—not a completely solid assumption).

So the SENATE rules, which were posted here on FR and are in my Twit thread today, say that nothing happens in the Senate until they get the articles of impeachment. If Botoxic doesn’t transmit, theoretically, the Senate can do nothing.

Is there a solution to this? Yes, change the rules. But that’s trickier than it sounds. The new rule would be something like “Section 1 of the impeachment rules are hereby amended to say that the Senate will commence its impeachment procedures upon ITS certification of am impeachment vote in the House . . .” In other words, the trial starts when WE say, and the Senate can “certify” any time it wants.

The RESOLUTION for this vote (51 to carry) is where the danger lays. NeverTrumpers like Minion could use the arcane and confusing process of a rules change to vote against it. Minion would only need 3 others (Tom Collins, MurCowSki, and Burrito, for example) and he can block the change, thereby keeping all power in Botoxic’s hands.

THIS CONCERNS ME. They should be having a rule vote NOW. TODAY. But instead Yertle is complaining about Botoxic and the House. Not good.

BTW, “Sundance” at Conservative Treehouse has been dead on in his prophecy as to how the House vote would go. He outlined the rules changes two months ago and showed that it would be a clown circus from the get-go. He has missed some things in the past (had Trump with 73m pop vote and had Sessions resigning in August 2017 “for sure”), but he has been absolutely correct in his analysis of the “Lawfare” strategy of impeachment.

The point is, I don’t think Botoxic at all cares about the popular perception, or even losing the House. She is trying to pry 4 Senators off to prevent a rules change and thus a full unanimous acquittal of Trump (which is what will happen if they change the rule, cuz even Minion won’t vote in public to convict Trump.)

Because one of the charges is “Obstruction” and they can claim before the court that they need the GJ material to prove obstruction.

—Republicans will be defending 23 Senate seats in 2020.-—

Let me know when you get good odds from someone that the Dems can not only get a Senate majority, but also get 2/3 of the entire body to remove Trump.

Pigs will fly first.

McCarthy giving an EXCELLENT GOP briefing, on OANN, now.

Discussed Meadows...and other retiring R seats.

Says, no worry there, at all.

Now discussing the loser Speaker and USMCA non-vote.

Great briefing, by McCarthy.

Complicating any decision to delay are House Democrats’ arguments in recent weeks that Trump’s impeachment was needed “urgently,” arguing his actions were a threat to Democracy and the fairness of the 2020 election.

Hypocrisy, they name is Pelosi.

The Senate majority sets the rules for a trial. Perhaps you saw the Schiff Show in the House? Add 6-8 new Ds to the weaklings Rs that are already in the Senate, and it’s a jump ball. Again, my opinion.

You stated...

Have you seen this?

Pollak: Senate Can Acquit Even If House Withholds Articles of Impeachment

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/12/18/pollak-senate-can-acquit-even-if-house-doesnt-transmit-articles-of-impeachment-constitution/

Nancy DID send/provide the Articles to the Senate — for all the world to see. She did it when they were published.

She thinks two can’t play her game?! She thinks because a small contingent of her angry thugs didn’t parade the printed documents to the Senate she didn’t provide them? That’s just theater.

The Senate has the Articles; she provided them. Now let them do their job.

I don’t agree that she is in charge, per se. She’s trying to get some sort of control over her own caucus, and she knows that the general public sees this as a great big sham. If she really believed in the charges and thought the case was airtight she wouldn’t hesitate to send the charges up to the Senate. Any delay weakens her case, and the Senate is free to conduct business as though this never happened.

Botoxic isn’t this smart, but her handlers with Lawfare are VERY smart and so far have managed this to perfection from a certain perspective.

Indeed.

Have argued for months the best thing for the Dems would be to not "deliver" their extremely weak and virtually unwinnable work product to the Senate. They would remain in control of the political game and could hope to improve the battleground.

They and the MSM have a workable 24/7 back up plan if Mitch rejects undelivered charges out of hand, otherwise delivers a prompt vote of acquittal, or denies the Dem's an opportunity to present witnesses...
"Those evil R's are outrageously covering up for an obviously guilty, very corrupt president."

Lindsey's announcement/threat that the R's should not present witnesses introduces the prospect of an unknown number of wild cards.

One could wonder whether the Deep State and anti-MAGA's have determined a pliable Pelosi would make a better president than Hillary?

The movie “Idiocracy” has become the reality of our country. The party of JFK is now a living example of what happens when a population loses basic critical thinking, education, knowledge of history, and intelligence. I am hoping for a Second Foundation that will bring back logic and good sense, perhaps just a dream on my part. The country may yet require nourishing the tree before good sense returns.

That is presently the published "opinion" of only one Harvard JD. In any case, it would seem better to let it play out, the Dem's could "refine" their impeachment effort within a matter of weeks and we are back at square one. The question for us may be what position exposes them to the greater political risk.
