I agree; and Zen Master agrees.

Agree, but that hasn’t stopped them.

Yertle knows that opening up this with new witnesses exposes Lindsey, plus McTurd’s legacy, and probably Yertle’s wife.

Well, Levin (a radio show guy, JD) agrees with Pollack (Journalist, JD) and they both apparently disagree with well-known (left wing) Harvard law professor Tribe.

This indeed is a battle between experts with nothing but opinions. Of course, it is not the number of speakers for or against but the quality of their arguments.

Have not yet read the rationale for any opinion by Tribe but am inclined to expect he will offer the compelling argument.

Again, IMO, it appears somewhat more politically profitable for the R's to take no action until formal receipt of the charges. Unfortunately, not many of us out here on the sidewalk have the means of properly evaluating the various elements in play.

I think Mitch telling Nancy to put up or shut up is much more effective than giving an excuse for more media attention. The stronger move is to make your statement á la Mitch and then ignore the issue giving it exactly the importance it has, none. You swat the flies when they rise to buzz again.

No. They need to prove they have a bona fide process with criminal charges and that POTUS asking the court to adjudicate on executive process constitutes obstruction.
The SC does not involve itself in political processes which is how impeachment is defined.

I missed that in the Constitution. There is no requirement for managers, that’s a Pelosi special.

Are we sure she isn’t a stealth member of the Trump 2020 Reelection Committee?

Funny you should say that. On two occasions - in December, 2018 and again several months ago - Ted Cruz has commented that Pelosi and Schumer are acting like President Trump's hostages. Their tortured angst makes one wonder what would make them lead their party down this long path to certain destruction. Once you are compromised, you belong to whomever holds the dirt.

Yertle knows that opening up this with new witnesses exposes Lindsey, plus McTurd’s legacy, and probably Yertle’s wife.

That seems a likely possibility although any evidence thus gained would clearly seem not relevant in this trial. This is not a typical criminal trial but the Chief Justice of the USSC presides for a reason.

Not sure what Lindsey is proposing - demanding but the Senate trial should be narrowly based on the evidence obtained by the D's justifying and supporting the charges.

If Lindsey is willing to allow the D's to present any prosecution witness that will present credible evidence and not allow them to call hostile (R) witnesses - then I would think that acceptable.

The R's will exact a significant price via competent cross-examination (unlike much of that seen in the House hearings).

Did the House ever actually formally vote to impeach the President? All I know about is a vote on an impeachment inquisition, NOT a regular impeachment. That’s how they got around a normal procedure and did their Shamwow thing.....

the constitution doesn’t put specific rules. The rules Turtle said are those used in the Clinton trial.

Another way to look at it. Can’t have a trial unless you know who the DA is.

She is trying to pry 4 Senators off to prevent a rules change and thus a full unanimous acquittal of Trump (which is what will happen if they change the rule, cuz even Minion won’t vote in public to convict Trump.)

Can Mitch stop her?

From the article:

In a news conference late Wednesday, Pelosi declined to say when she would send the articles to the Republican-led Senate. Until the articles are submitted, the Senate cannot hold the trial.

There's no Constitutional requirement for that. The Articles are public record.

While it is not in the Constitution there was an excellent post by Cboldt this am, laying out the Senate Rules for Impeachment from the 113th Congress. Those rules do reference managers.

The Senate Rules are what they are. These can be modified, of course, and in Clinton's case, certain details were spelled out in S.Res.16 - 106th Congress.

The source document is all of the senate procedure, and runs about 1500 pages. It's a good reference, to be sure, but I thought having just the impeachment Trial part would be handy these days. as per Cboldt post referenced

Mitch McConnell has said he intends to use the same rules which do specify a dismissal vote as delineated in this post, also by Cboldt

This is a brilliant but warped move to keep the Dems relevant while they stumble towards finding a nominee.

Too clever by half. For the non 'political geek' observers, it looks to be political game playing, totally unserious.
