Conservative New York Post writer John Crudele wrote a column about how upset he was that a gun company dared offer its wares for Christmas. Crudele is conservative, as such things go, in New York City. He is a Donald Trump supporter and has a roughly libertarian philosophy.
I dont have hard-and-fast rules about many things. I go by the it is none of my business if its not hurting anyone rule. You might know it as live and let live.
I suspect John and I would agree on many things. It takes a lot of guts to be a Trump supporter in New York City.
Unfortunately, John stepped outside his area of expertise with the column on Henry Rifles Holiday advertising. He is perfectly capable of describing his own feelings, of course. It is his unfortunate linkage of his dislike for guns with his ignorance about them which created an emotional response from many of his readers.
Sure, what a Christmas gift!
I dont care what religion you believe in or what your feelings about guns happen to be, but this particular email should piss you off. I wish there was a more eloquent way of saying that but I cant find it right now.
Companies like this give people who dont like guns a reason to continue their dislike for them.

Christmas would be the perfect occasion for one as a gift.
Guns are ridiculously cheap, in historical terms, when you use constant dollars to take inflation and earning power into account.
Model 60 .22 in 1970 was $42.95.
Constant dollars from 1970 to present have a ratio of 6.5 to 1.
That is $279 in todays dollars.
I saw a stainless steel model in Walmart the other day for $200.
I suspect the high cost of firearms is mostly caused by the insurance the manufacturer is forced to carry to protect them from the blood sucking lawyers.
It is the same in the aircraft industry. A small single engine aircraft such as a Piper Cherokee without any fancy upgrades will cost about $145,000. It’s true value is in the neighborhood of about $50,000 imo with the need for very high levels of ins coverage making up the rest.
There have been cases of crashes in which the pilot has been shown to be at fault and yet a lawsuit against the mfr of the aircraft were successfully sued by survivors for one reason or another.
They’re ridiculously expensive when you consider how easily and routinely they are lost forever in tragic boating accidents.
CINO
Bet he’s not aware of the festive red and green .22 Christmas ammo.
The base price for a Piper Archer is $389,000. I couldn’t see where they are even selling warriors now. I agree that $50,000 is what they should cost.
Hey dipshit, if you really do have a Libertarian outlook on things, then don’t worry about it. Me buying my kid (grandkid in my case) a Cricket .22 isn’t hurting you or yours one little bit. Go have an egg nog and chill out...
John Crud isn’t a conservative, he’s a typical NYC liberal puke.
It appears he supports President Trump.
I would have to see his marked ballot to believe that.
Some people were PO’d at the company using the Henry name, but there never was a “Henry” rifle company in the 19th century. The name is just an ode to the original Henry rifle, named after its designer, Benjamin Tyler Henry, who worked for New Haven Arms Company, a precursor to Winchester.
The modern Henry Repeating Arms Company (no connections to Winchester or the original Henry rifle) makes all of its rifles in the U.S., and its CEO, Louis Imperato, is an American patriot and staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment.
I’m guessing John Crudele is getting his schooling on firearms now.
That Remington ad - I still have my dad’s Remington 512 Sportmaster which was given to him by his parents on the occasion of his 16th birthday in 1942. It still shoots as straight as the day he got it.
I received my first firearm, a Sears “Ted Williams” model, 12 gauge shotgun as a Christmas present from my father.
Saw a stack of Red Ryders at Wal-Mart the other day. They’ll probably sell them all.
On Halloween a group of six Kids showed up at my door, aged six to fourteen. The oldest Kid was dressed in Fatigues and had an AR-15 slung over his shoulder.
God Bless America and the great Free State of Mississippi.
