If you’ve spent any time around the Federalist Society — the hugely influential conservative legal society that plays an outsized role in choosing President Trump’s judicial nominees — then you’ve probably noticed their obsession with a singular issue

And they are very selective about who they enforce the rules on. I manage a self storage just outside of Tacoma, Wash. Right now, I have a boat being stored on MY property (not the self storage) due to a homeowners association that is enforcing the rules against this couple, but NOT the family down the street, because they’re black, and the HOA doesn’t want the headache of enforcing the rules against them, even though they’re yard has all kinds of crap in it. I met this couple when they came in to ask about storing their boat at the self storage. At the time, we were having a lot of theft issues, and I let everyone know up front, if they want to store their RV or boat, that they stand a very likely chance of getting ripped off, and there’s not a damn thing I can do about it, and the sheriffs dept. doesn’t do a damn thing, either. But, because they are in HOA’s, they take the chance. This couple had just got this boat and didn’t want to take the chance. I told them if they couldn’t find another place to store it, get back to me and they could store it on my property. They came back two days later. Very nice couple, and they are glad to have their boat somewhere safe (mostly...nothing is guaranteed around here).

I agree. Women in most cases emote during decision making.

only Justice Thomas has been able to hold-fast from our side.

Alito is great too. He is a quiet conservative who hasn't gone wobbly.

Vox completely misinterprets Gorsuch's opinion.

First they describe what he said:

In that opinion, Gorsuch suggested that current law risks giving agencies “unbounded policy choices.” His explanation of what new limits he would impose on federal agencies is vague and it’s hard to find a clear legal rule in the opinion. Nevertheless, Gorsuch writes that a federal law permitting agencies to regulate must be “‘sufficiently definite and precise to enable Congress, the courts, and the public to ascertain’ whether Congress’s guidance has been followed.”

Then Vox purposely mischaracterizes the effect in order to rile up their readers:

Gorsuch, in other words, would give the Republican-controlled Supreme Court a veto power over all federal regulations. That prospect should chill each of the Democratic presidential candidates to the bone. If any of them prevail, their administration would have to seek a permission slip from the Court if it wants to regulate, if Gorsuch’s view holds sway.

WRONG! Gorsuch would require Congress to write laws that are more specific as to how they are to be implemented, especially where major policies with huge cost impacts are concerned. If that was done properly, there would be no "permission slip seeking" necessary. It would be Congress' fault if the laws are written poorly, and the law would be, I surmise, struck down for being too vague. Congress could then revisit the issue to fix it if they are so inclined. But the idea that all regulation would henceforth be subject to approval by the Supreme Court is ludicrous and wrong.

If RBG croaks Trump should pick a conservative woman for SCOTUS nominee. Let’s see the left pull this sex assault BS on a woman. Use some haggard guy who talks like he’s high on heroin: “And then she laid on top of me boo hoo hoo” “Men are to be believed!”

Just because they won't be able to claim sexual harassment, doesn't mean they won't have other angles.

Any nominee will go through a microscope. Did she at any point employ illegal aliens or pay people cash? They will find them. They will even make stuff up, as happened with Kavenaugh

What I'm worried about, is that if they can't find anything else that works, they will threaten to harm the kids of the nominee.

Unfortunately the history is there for all to see, regarding Sandra D. She started center/right and ended center/left. In Texas, we had to deal with Kay Baily Huchison who started as conservative and also ended up center/left. I don’t know what does it to non-white males, but something does (maybe tribalism just gnaws at them), only Justice Thomas has been able to hold-fast from our side.

Never underestimate the power of the herd. A lot of women can't deal with having other women incessantly attack them.

Judge Grant makes the left soil themselves. If they hate her this badly, she must really be good.

And at 41, she would probably be able to serve for 40 years or more.

Township around here does that as well

Old polish grandmother had a commercial sewing machine in her garage, she would do alterations, make things, whatever for people, one day a township spy was watching the property and noticed a Jewish lady brought stuff to the grandmother to alter, that was the end of her. The town stated she was running a business and had to shut down and sell the machine.

Guy who is friends with the mayor and town council sells used cars in his front yard, he even has a Delaware used car dealer license (he is in New Jersey). People complain, nobody will do anything. Code enforcement will say it is not illegal to park cars in your front yard. But that wasn’t the complaint, the complaint was the man was selling the cars in the front yard as a licensed dealer.

They will. And, the media will cover for them and assist when necessary. Perhaps not sex assault; but, they will be attacked mercilessly.

Think, Sarah Palin. Think, Michelle Bachman.

...only Justice Thomas has been able to hold-fast from our side.

Justice Thomas may be a man of great integrity, but I suspect that, if he ever did have any sympathy for the Left, he had very little after their attempt to assassinate his character and reputation at the confirmation. If ever there was a man in our government who has seen the raw evil of the Left, it is Justice Thomas (and now Kavanaugh).

“Never underestimate the power of the herd. A lot of women can’t deal with having other women incessantly attack them.”

Words of wisdom. That may explain a lot, be it women or fellow blacks or Hispanics. It takes a SUPER-STRONG character to be willing to be treated like crap by one’s type, while still continuing on the same path. With whites, conservatives still have half of their type supporting them. Try being a conservative black - maybe 5% of blacks would have your back, with most blacks hating you. It’s got to tough for them, really tough.

Agree, but I was referring to minorities and women, as they get BLASTED by their own people if they stray off the plantation.

It may be sexist to say it but it doesn’t make it any less accurate.

The emotionalism and ‘be nice’ nonsense (which is actually poorly-disguised fear of confrontation) has lumbered us with some horrible judges, horrible legislators and horrible laws and rulings.

I’m extremely tired of hearing someone is ‘a wife and a mother.’

I. DON’T. CARE.
