f you thought there weren’t any major elections until the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3, guess again. On Saturday, Louisiana will choose between incumbent Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and Republican businessman Eddie Rispone for governor. And the race down in the Bayou looks increasingly close, so it’s an open question whether Edwards can once again overcome Louisiana’s deep red hue to win reelection. Here’s where things stand heading into Election Day.

But it's also continued failure of the voters to understand, (for whatever reason), the level of corruption in the democrat party (Hint: Arrests being made would help with clarity here), and that the democrat party IS the God hating, America hating, abortion loving, gun confiscating, CPUSA(Communist Party USA), no matter what pro-life/pro 2nd Amendment mask their(dem) particular candidate may be wearing.
Of course cheating is always a possibility and MUST be dealt with.
Also perhaps the MSM still holds too many people under its spell of deception, and more effort needs to be made to challenge their narrative directly.
The last thing could be treacherous RINOS (McConnell in Ky comes to mind), secretly operating behind the scenes to throw wrenches into things.
Just a dissapointing loss considering how lively the crowd was at the rally.
All Trump supporters need to have a heart to heart talk with their friends and neighbors about the fact that today's democrats are NOT you daddy and granddady's democrats.

This Gov. might think he can go against his party , but that is not true.

Jindal was ineligible and had no business running for president. He should have stayed in LA and been the best governor he could have been.
Well, yes, they have early voting. But did many voters actually go do that?
What a relief at least that Edwards is pro-life and pro-2nd amendment. But I still think it strange to hold an election on a Saturday, the day of an LSU football game (not to mention all of the other SEC games being played today on TV). It may seem silly to people in other parts of the country, but football is huge in the South.
Thank you. Too often, I see our side jumping on voter fraud to excuse election losses. I'm not saying it NEVER happens, but we also need to face facts to learn from election losses.
Edwards was not a typical Democrat. He recently signed one of the strongest pro-life measures in the nation, and from what I understand, he's a 2A supporter. The typical "Don't vote for the liberal!" campaign was never going to work against him, at least not as much as it would have against a usual democrat.
Did that make him a lock? Of course not. I think the more rational explanation is that the two Republicans went at each other tooth-and-nail in the jungle primary in a fight to be the run-off alternative to Edwards; that's understandable. But then there wasn't enough time for Rispone to heal wounds with Abraham's supporters and consolidate the vote.
The President did everything he could to rectify that, but there just wasn't enough time. One of the lessons learned is that in a typical primary race, there is time to patch things up and get everyone on board. These jungle primaries usually don't have a lot of time before the general.
I'm not for the idea of a back-room establishment picking our candidate for us, but we also have to recognize that two Republicans clobbering each other is a losing strategy in some races.

years. They have early voting and absentee voting should
anyone be so inclined. Early and absentee voting is available
if one chooses.

I had been wondering why Jindal had kind of disappeared from Republican political activism and on the national stage. The party gave him an opportunity to make an important presentation a few years ago. I was seriously unimpressed with his delivery. My immediate thought was, he will not have the national impact that Obama had with his (Obama’s) maiden speech.
Got up early to see the results of this race; certainly it’s disappointing, but it appears LA still uses the West Virginia approach to politics — vote conservatively in national elections, while electing the occasional democrat as Governor or Senator. Remember, this is the state that once had the crook Edwin Edwards and the cryer/liar Kathleen Blanco as Governor, and Mary Landrieu as Senator. With the large GOP majority in the legislature and the fact a popular and relatively moderate democrat Governor who once led in polling by double-digits was nearly toppled last night, the general trajectory of LA is a good one.
Rispone was a complete unknown - he had never before run for office. I was mildly surprised that the Oct 12 primary went to a runoff. I expected Edwards to win outright.
Louisiana has a core of blacks, teacher’s union, state employees, and government retireds (no state income tax on ALL govt pensions) that votes their pocketbook on the governor’s race EVERY time.
Unless and until we get some job growth in the state and bring in new blood that’s not beholden to the government tit, we can expect similar results in the future.
There is a silver lining here. The legislature is much more conservative than it was. Expect Bel Edwards to be isolated and impotent when he tries to promote more big government.
