A group of black state lawmakers are calling for New Jersey to examine its historic role in slavery and possibly pay reparations to its black residents.
Leaders of the state’s Legislative Black Caucus on Thursday introduced a bill that would establish the New Jersey Reparations Task Force.
If approved, the panel would research the history of slavery in the Garden State, any racial discrimination and disparity that stemmed from it, and how the state could help make up for it.

My ancestors owned a handful of slaves. The slaves and the owners all ate out of the same bean pot and they worked the land side by side. Great great great granny said Emancipation was a good thing because they no longer had to take care of them. Well, that didn’t work since they still need taken care of.

I didn’t own any slaves, and had absolutely nothing to do with it. But as a co-party connection with Abraham Lincoln, I would be on the side who ended slavery from the United States. I think these people have to get their money from the Democrat Party. They were the ones behind slavery and Jim Crow.
So what they’re saying is a white girl who is born 50 years from now will have to make reparations to a black girl who is born 50 years from now.
Because that’s no different than expecting me to pay it today.

According to the plan there would have been slaves in NJ until about 1873.

There are less whites in NJ with every passing day; the Latino braceros and Asian coolies trafficked here as scabs will get the bill.
These discussions should disturb everyone (including blacks); they are a very public admission that most of them will never fit in a modern economy. Not so much that they can’t, but any effort to do so has stopped; they were better off in terms of education and employability half a century ago.
NJ was one of the last northern states to outlaw slavery. When our dopey dipsh!t governor removed Mississippi’s flag from Liberty State Park (by the Statue of Liberty) because it featured a Confederate flag on it, he ignored the fact that our current flag is the same one that flew over NJ as a slave state.
All of the colonies had slavery, and most of the newly freed colonies kept it.

What will happen first on the state level is the minorities will be the majority of TAXPAYERS remaining; then they can fight over the tax money. NJ is heading towards “life without white people”, in part because COMPANIES got sick of the state demanding then squandering tax revenues.
Who would open a business here if this is even being debated?
Demonrats are slave owners and Black Demonrat voters are slaves.
