ELECTORAL COLLEGE OVERWHELMINGLY FAVORS REPUBLICANS, ABOLISHING ENTIRE SYSTEM ONLY REMEDY: STUDY
Newsweak ^ | 10/12/19 | BENJAMIN FEARNOW

The Republican Party is set to win a large majority of all future close presidential elections, even contests in which they lose the popular vote, according to a recent study.

GOP candidates for president can expect to be victorious in 65 percent of future presidential elections and University of Texas at Austin researchers analyzed why "inversions" — where the popular vote winner loses the overall election — has happened twice since 2000.

The study authors found that the Electoral College's winner-take-all approach favors Republicans and has pushed them to victories in 2000 and 2016.

The researchers concluded that inversions will occur more and more in 2020 and beyond unless a policy change completely dissolves, rather than reforms, the Electoral College.

The study released by the National Bureau of Economic Research last month...

The same people that want to abolish the EC, are the same people that love the UN because it gives small nations a voice equal to the big powers.

Notice that they don’t talk about states like Illinois where Chicago decides the winner? If anything, the EC should be strengthened. Make it where the winner of that state has to win the most counties.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXCELLENT IDEA. WE SHOULD GET BEHIND THIS GREAT SOLUTION

There is nothing stopping any or all of the other 48 states from adopting the more realistic district system used in Maine and Nebraska. Even those 7 states with only three electoral votes could choose to divide their states into three presidential electoral districts and have the potential to split 2/1.

That would require a constitutional amendment. And it should be combined with a provision allowing the red states to secede.

While they are at it, why not abolish the 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments?

Then, we can find Democrats guilty at 2 am, arrest them at 3 am, and start torturing they and their families to death by dawn. Seems only fair...

This is why property owners should be the ones with the vote. The Democrats/Left is not capable of rational thought.

If the Democrats want to win more presidential elections in America, they need to start advocating pro-American policies.

They like to say hillary won in 2016.. she got the votes from the east and west coast.. not having the electoral college, the east and west coast would elect our President. and we all know they are liberal and they don’t like middle America.. we’d become a banana middle America.. forgotten and the country would go to pot in a hurry.

If the elite don’t mind the streets of California being taken over by the homeless... that’s what we’d have... and the elite don’t work.. that’s for the banana middle west.. and taxes would go to the elite.. and they’d think it was a perfectly good arrangement.

So that we know the LEFT;

Bio from Newsweek: "Benjamin Fearnow is a reporter based out of Newsweek's New York City offices. He was previously at Abrams Media, CBS Local, International Business Times and worked as a Trending News curator at Facebook. Fearnow has pieces published in The Atlantic as well as stories published about him in Wired and The New York Times. He attended the Columbia University School of Journalism after graduating from Indiana University."

As for the subject of the Electoral College, pass a Constitutional Amendment, you putz! I, for one (of many), do not want to see California and the top 8 blue states having a lock on campaigning and electing the President!

“Electoral College’s winner-take-all approach...”

Ah, but nothing in the Constitution requires the ‘winner-take-all approach’. Forty-eight state legislatures have chosen to allot their votes that way as is their right under the Constitution. ME and NE allot their electoral votes by who wins Congressional districts with two votes going to whoever wins the state overall.

This system might well be fairer. Perhaps the authors of the study should advocate changing how individual states award their electoral votes. Politically this should be easier than amending the Constitution. And it would put nearly all states back into play. But will democrat-controlled states like California, New York, and Illinois be willing to share some of their electoral votes with Republicans?
