I'm not so sure it would create a schism at all. Just reading the comments on Mitt's facebook page shows his own constituents are mostly fed up with him.
He'd have better luck running in the Democrat Primary. I have lot of Mormon friends. 80% of him view him as an arse and a major disappointment.

There is NO $500,000,000.00 sitting on any sidelines {where ever the hell that is} and mittens couldn't draw flies.
Mittens is an annoyance from Utah, and the Mormons stick together, all 5.5 million of them, but they really like Trump, so it will be interesting to watch this play out.
