Gambling website offers bets ahead of Democrats' first debate

Debate watchers who are feeling lucky can bet on a whole host of aspects of the Democratic White House hopefuls' first face-off this week, including if former Vice President Biden will hug someone onstage, and how many times President Trump might tweet.

The gambling site SportsBetting.ag unveiled a host of wagers this week ahead of Wednesday and Thursday nights’ Democratic primary debates.

The site puts it at 16/5 odds that one of the candidates will "say a curse word or be bleeped" during the debates in Miami.

Bettors can also wager on the first topic that moderators will ask about on Wednesday, with 2/1 odds for abortion, followed by 3/1 odds for both health care and gun control.

The website is placing a 1.5 over/under on the number of times Trump will tweet during Wednesday's debate, while on Thursday the over/under increases to 2.5.

Gamblers can also bet on whether Trump will tweet some of his favorite jabs towards the candidates, with 3/2 odds that he'll mention Mad magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman — the commander in chief's insult of choice for South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg — or 1/2 odds that he'll make a "Pocahontas" slur when referring to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

Bookmakers are also betting there's at least some chance that Biden — who's faced criticism after multiple women say he inappropriately touched them while he was vice president — will physically embrace some of the women running for president. The odds of Biden hugging Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) or Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) or author Marianne Williamson during Thursday's debate are 2/3 he will, and 6/5 he won't. The site notes that Biden "must clearly wrap at least one arm around one of them" in order for gamblers to cash in.

I’ll bet all three of them have practiced a step-away movement as a means to help them in the polls if he tries it.

Hilarious that Pocahontas has been relegated to the “kiddie table” debate and won’t be on the main stage with Sleepy Joe and Crazy Bernie.

What’s the over/under on whether or not gay “intimacy” will be performed on stage?

Quick scan of Wednesday evening programming shows that only NBC is carrying Debate #1.

I plan to avoid watching that train wreck.

“Hilarious that Pocahontas has been relegated to the “kiddie table” debate and won’t be on the main stage with Sleepy Joe and Crazy Bernie.”

Done on purpose. The DNC and MSM wants Liawatha to be a clear favorite.

The main bet should be who will drop out after the first debate.

[EXCLUSIVE] The First Six Democrat Socialist “Debate Questions” ~

1. Given Obama’s booming economy that Trump was fortunate to inherit, what’s your plan for redistributing its economic proceeds?

2. Because global warming is settled science, what laws will you enact to ensure that all Americans will pay for its global remedy?

3. How soon will you repeal the Trump tax cuts that have harmed so many working-class Americans and only benefited the rich?

4. Do you believe there’s any limit to the amount of wealth that American’s should involuntarily forfeit for their original sin of slavery?

5. What’s your plan for hastening the unimpeded entry of foreign migrants into America who are only seeking a better way of life for their children?

6. Do you believe that the issuance of the Mueller Report has in any way lessened America’s universal hatred for Donald Trump?

I dunno. Over at DU there’s endless discussion about taxing Wall Street, taxing the billionaires, acquired wealth tax, higher luxury tax. I’ve come to think of DU as a bunch of people in poverty, envious of anyone earning an average income. Redistributing wealth on a massive scale is well thought of over there.

Wish InTrade was still around. That would be a fun contract to follow...

My bet would be Gillibrand...

If not...

Meh.

The lineup was supposedly done by random draw (or something akin to that). They probably used the same technique as they do for voting when determining the order of appearance. However, if all three appeared on the second night, no one would watch the first night of debates between the demonrats. Not sure anyone worth their salt is going to watch either night since it is only being allowed on MSNBS tv.

As far as the media goes, Biden (second night) and Warren (first night) has already won the first debate.

Good point, what about odds of any dropping out.

These debates could act as elimination rounds. With so many running, who can keep track of them all?

A poor showing, and/or major gaffe committed by any, could well end some of the 20+campaigns.
