Fair Oaks Farms Apologizes After Video Surfaces Of Workers Abusing Calves; 4 Employees Fired

CHICAGO (CBS) — The owners of an Indiana dairy farm are apologizing after undercover video released by an animal rights group showed workers kicking, beating and throwing around newborn calves. The video was filmed at Fair Oaks Farms, a popular destination for school field trips and tourists about 75 miles southeast of Chicago.

The video was filmed by a member of Animal Recovery Mission, which had an undercover investigator get a job at Fair Oaks Farms from August to November of last year in order to expose animal cruelty.

The footage shows workers dragging calves by their ears, including off the side of a farm cart, throwing calves into small plastic isolation hutches, hitting calves with milk bottles, kicking calves, beating them with branding irons and steel rebar, and force-feeding the animals to the point they can’t breathe.

By definition, dairy is cruel industry. Cows are artificially inseminated and kept pregnant all the time, so that they will produce milk. The calves are ripped away from their mothers at birth and not permitted to feed on their own milk.

Humans have no business drinking the milk of cows or any other animal. If you’re not a baby cow you have no business drinking cows milk. And you are contributing to this.

Given that the Bible says man has dominion over animals and recommends them for slaughter and sacrifice, and given that the Bible never speaks out against cruelty to animals at any point, I have no idea how you got the idea that being religious would translate into kindness to animals.

"Yes God created Man and all things. He also gave men free will.

Some men took that free will and used it to reject God. That does not make God “responsible” for their cruelty."

___________

"That does not make God “responsible” for their cruelty" --- that is a matter of opinion.

Maybe God did not create man, maybe self-indulgent man is some kind of alien, licentious aberration. Maybe Alex Jones is right ..... the earth is the "prison planet".

"I don’t think God did any such...people with no sense of morality OR God do this."

_____________

Why does God seemingly allow humans to behave like this?

awfully dark skinned for a bunch of Indianan farm boys

Perhaps they came from the culture of horse tripping.
A big “sport” in some areas.

Jun 17, 2008 - DeKalb’s Cavel plant, the last horse slaughterhouse in the U.S., ran out ... an Illinois law prohibiting the killing of horses for human consumption.

And it gets worse.
“Horse-tripping” is legal in most of the USA!

So now a homeless horse is tortured to death at the Mexican rodeo.

Proof that Vegans suffer from brain rot.

It is a pretty bizarre premise when you think about it. Most folks would turn up their nose as disgusting if given a glass of human milk to drink...

Proof that Vegans suffer from brain rot.

How so? Go on. Be specific. What did I state that was incorrect? . Please explain the logic of inter species lactation. Do you drink dog milk? Cat milk? Horse milk? And please also defend the practice of ripping baby calves away from their mothers at birth, and not allowing the calves feed from or bond with their mothers. I want to read what you have to say.

The simple fact that The Lord Himself, on multiple occasions relates as The Good Shepherd.. indeed the selfless and self sacrificinf shepherd.
Also, His fulfillment of the requirement for anomal sacrices.
In no place in The Bible does dominion over anything mean physical abuse.
I am sure the video is taken out of context as we all know the realities of taking calves from their mothers isn’t easy. So i am not jumping to conclusions about those folks...

I’d gladly cook and eat just about any healthy wild animal, or ones that were raised to be food. I’d also gladly bury these “workers” in a deep ditch out in the woods.

This is stupid management. They deserve to go bankrupt.

I'm not going to debate this with you. You're a vegan. You lack proteins in your brain therefore you are unarmed. Stop grazing the cow food, think of the calves! You can have the last word.

I believe this goes to the heart of Christian morality. We are all fallen creatures with the potential for great evil within us. One simple test is - how do you treat those people (and creatures) over whom you have power, especially life and death power?

Everyone likes to assume they are of course better than the nazi guards at Auschwitz. But really, if circumstances led you to that point, what choice would you make?

Like it or not, this is exactly how animals are raised for food. This is the system. This is what happens.

Yours is an interesting argument. I respect you are willing to expose yourself to opposition to make the point in this thread

My last word is, exactly as I thought! You’ve got nothing. You claim others have brain rot, but you can’t argue your own point. You came here and dropped an insult thinking you would get away with it but you can’t back it up in the slightest. So you throw out more insults, and you can’t even back those up.

________________

Your sentiments are wise.

I would pray that all of us would treat people (and other animals) over whom we have power, I would hope we treat them gently and decently.
