Cruz, Cornyn Oppose Tariff Threat on Mexico
WBAP ^ | June 5 2019 | WBAP

Both GOP senators from Texas are joining other republicans in breaking ranks with the president over a tariff threat to Mexico.

Senator Ted Cruz says it is a game of chicken on who will blink first.

“I understand that the president is frustrated with congressional democrats refusing to do their job,” Cruz said. “That being said, this is the wrong solution to the crisis.”

When are these spineless dumbasses going to realize that Trump opposes tariffs too? Not just for Mexico but in all cases. It’s a temporary means to an end because all else has failed. Part of that failure is Congress! A big part.

Support Trump or resign!

MAGA America First!

From the link:

“The tariffs are unnecessary if we can get congressional democrats to just do their job,” Cornyn said.

As the old song goes, I don't believe in "if" anymore.
We can cut down forests to make the paper and buy barrels of ink to print positions on possible solutions but, at the end of the day, you must act. Trump is a doer, not a talker. I'm fully on board with the tariff; if Mexico wants to avert that disaster, CLOSE THE ******** BORDER!!

“It’s simple really, Cruz has many voters who might be offended by a positive stance on tariffs. Catering to those voters will help ensure Victory next election cycle.”

Not really. The open borders crowd gives him money, but the people do not want this damned invasion. The open borders free traitors are just as thrilled to have a democrat there.
He is an idiot.

No.
He blamed both Trump and the voters.

Ted sided with #Blacklivesmatter thugs, illegals waving foreign flags, American communists waving hammer and sickle banners, and Islamists with their crescent flags over American voters.

He is less of a turd than O'Rourke, but he is still a stinking open borders turd.

When Hillary-supporting hooligans were causing violence at Trump rallies, remember when Cruz blamed Trump instead of the leftist thugs?

Yeah, I also remember when Trump regurgitated hard left talking points against Walker in Wisconsin, and Trump accusing Cruz of infidelity, etc. They were tough primaries. I am on board the Trump Train 100% , and he now has a track record (which he did not have at the time of the primaries) that he intends to keep his promises, particularly to pro-lifers.

You know, I provide an honest critique on something Cruz said, and all you can do is marvel that some people like me backed him in the beginning of the primaries in 2016? Trump himself does a much better job of making peace.

All these ‘professional’ politicians spouting silliness.

Trump was elected because America was sick to death of the insanity of US politics...doing the same crap and expecting a different outcome.

Same with this.

All I’ll say: sounds like the Mexicans are coming to talk...

MAGA!

Mexico will not cooperate with us until we get their attention. The tariff will do that.

But, of course, closing the border and stationing armed troops to enforce it will also get their attention.

Being from Texas, I have done my part: I have contacted both Mr. Cruz and Mr. Cornyn. I have also contacted my House Rep for good measure.

I ask everyone on this forum to do likewise: Mr. Cruz and Mr. Cornyn should not be the only ones singled out here as Mr. McConnell rightly acknowledged that the entire team is weak on this one.

Please contact your Senators and Representiative NOW!

When you offer criticism, of the current plan, then offer a solution instead of doing nothing Senator Cruz. Did you sign on to Senator Graham’s bill?

Hey Ted, what is your solution to the border invasion that is impacting your State?? Can these Senators not pick up the phone and speak to the White House before undercutting Trump’s negotiating position?

Damn straight!

You know what I want to hear? I want to hear even ONE Republican stand up in front of a TV camera and say:

“Mr. President, I would not do it this way, but Congress had it’s chance and we failed. You are my President and the leader of my party, and I know you are trying to solve a problem that has caused unknown pain and heartache to all Americans. Therefore I support you 100% and I urge every one of my colleagues to do the same. It is time to knock off the partisan politics as usual and act like we are worth of the seats we occupy”.

Just one.

I’m waiting.

I’d like to know why it’s Republicans who are always thinking they’re taking the high ground when they break ranks with the president. The dems RARELY do this. Why is it a Republican thing? Good press? Do they think it makes them look smart? It must frustrate the daylights out of the president, who seems to be the ONLY one working to protect the border! Him and Brian.

Congress has had 45 years to fix this problem. If they don’t like it then they have no one to blame but themselves.
