How silly. IF, and I do mean IF, it gets that bad, lots of folks will start to die off in mass number. Fewer people, less pollution. Fewer cities, fewer factories, and the problems will get less and the Earth recover. Famines, wars, and plagues will reduced the population from 7 Billion to one or 2 Billion. Fewer people will mean less ecological problems.

I'll take my chances with supply and demand, thank you. Government has a horrible expensive track record and never solves anything. As a matter of fact their existence hinges on never accomplishing anything and claiming they need more money and more power to make progress. Forever.
