Comey’s “in big trouble!” IG might find all 4 FISA warrants were illegal
Independent Sentinel ^ | 11 May 2019 | S. Noble

FacebookTwitterPinterestRedditEmailTumblrShare Rep. Devin Nunes said former FBI Director Jim Comey is “in a lot of trouble.”

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., slammed FBI Director James Comey saying “he made a mess of the FBI” on “Fox & Friends” Friday.

“This is a guy who continues to just make a mockery of the entire FBI and the Department of Justice,” Nunes said, reacting to Comey’s appearance at CNN’s town hall event on Thursday.

“This is the guy who, remember, leaked his memos in order to make sure that a Special Counsel was created to investigate the president.

“This is the guy who put an unverified dossier in front of a FISA court. There are lots of problems with Comey’s story. None of it matches up with reality.”

ABOUT THOSE FISA WARRANTS!

Former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Joe diGenova and his wife attorney Victoria Toensing told Lou Dobbs this week that the Inspector General for the Department of Justice, Mike Horowitz, determined that 3 of the 4 FISA warrants were illegally obtained.

Since the Kavalec memo was given to him, he is looking into the original warrant also being illegal.

Also, the IG allegedly didn’t know about the Kavalec memo — it was hidden.

Both attorneys added that Mueller’s report was a “sophomoric” “smear” job.

Prior to this revelation, Reps. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan said they expect criminal referrals from this Inspector General’s probe.

Every organization takes on the attitudes and morality of its leader. Comey had plenty of help from the lower-ranks.

Very true. I do work with many different municipalities. If the head of Public Works is a prick then most of the subordinates are also.

It appears Comey and brethren thought Hillary would win and all this would be dead and buried.

They thought wrong.

When you are already in trouble, hiding documents from the IG is kinda a high risk move.

And they were all so sure she would win that they didn’t try to cover their plan. Judging from the texts made by Strzok he certainly didn’t even consider Trump would win.

No one has said this but the reason Comey went so hard on Hillary after not charging her was because he needed a way out!

Comey thought Hillary was sooooo far ahead of TRUMP that some criticism of her would just be a blip & she would still win in a LANDSLIDE so weasily criticizing her was no big deal

Why can’t the judges on the FISA panel be held responsible for committing illegal activity?

Those judges cannot independently investigate every claim and justification in the DOJ's FISA applications. It is the one legal process where, due to its inherent need for secrecy, the DOJ must present both incriminating and exculpatory information and identify the sources and reliability. The FISA court relies on FBI/DOJ for the integrity of the application and a fair representation of the pros and cons. When the DOJ subverts that integrity, the FISA judges have no way of knowing and only FBI/DOJ can be held responsible for the illegal activity.

Similarly, SCOTUS Chief John Roberts doesn't have time and resources to review each FISA case and isn't expected to; he just appoints the FISA judges on a rotating basis. The problem here is that there is no way to appeal a FISA Court judgement to the SCOTUS because typically the targets of FISA warrants don't and shouldn't know that they are being surveilled.

That glowing send off is why I’m having doubts much will be done.

I cannot see AG Barr going after Rosenstein after that little Retirement Party.

Nor can I see AG Barr going after Mueller because they are actually friends of over what...20, 30 years...

Sigh.

Yeah, Rosenstein really looked too self-assured yesterday for anything bad that would happen to him, in contrast to the other presser they had the other day. Don’t see how they can prosecute Comey now either. He knows plenty that would put Rosey away.

It appears key information was withheld from the FISA court and they didn't get the entire Steele dossier. I read somewhere that the most ridiculous parts, like peeing in a Moscow bed, were withheld.

That said, had I been a judge on that court and asked for a warrant to wiretap a major party Presidential campaign, I would have given the DOJ people a thorough grilling and demanded their entire file. This wasn't an application for a warrant to search some drug dealers house; this was a big deal.

the 1996 downing of TWA Flight 800

I still own the DVD that I bought off of C-Span at the time, of Bill Clinton's comments when he finally addressed the Flight 800 issue in the W.H. Reporters room after it happened. That S.O.B. was Shaken to his core by the incident. He was visibly shaken. It's only about 7-10 minutes long,IF THAT, but he was WHITE faced + looks like a verrrrrry small man------ he knew what he was saying was a lie. He took NO questions when he finished reading his papers + walked out. Not convincing at all. I need to put that on YouTube, if it's not already there.

Rosenstein’s conduct is ambiguous, and things we don’t know could change my mind about him.

There are others in the bigger picture, but some of R’s out in the weeds actions and comments don’t square up. Examples:
1) When asked about signing FISA applications, R. said that the top officials who sign them don’t actually read or know the contents directly. They just rely on underlings’ word that all is proper, because anyone in the FBI or DoJ can be trusted. There is a reason top officials are required to approve FISA applications. The practice R claims is normal puts the approval in the hands of the lowest level drafter. The brass adds nothing but a rubber stamp. This is gross dereliction of duty, with a side order of pathetic excuse.
2) Of the various “matters” R added to Mueller authorization, one was to investigate whether Papadopoulos was an unregistered agent of Israel. Available evidence, and the fact that Mueller did not charge him with that, tell us that the US government ran a scam at P to create “evidence” of working for the Israelis. They had a known US IC operative waylay P. during his honeymoon in Greece, get him to fly to Israel, and give him a $10k “consulting fee” in cash. The FBI knew all about their $10k and met P at the US airport hoping to catch him with it (oops, he left it in Greece). If R knew P had been set up and caused him to be investigated anyway, R is a criminal, who grossly abused his power. If he didn’t know, R was a clueless tool of underlings, and did nothing to correct the record or punish the guilty when the truth came out. That is consistent with Item 1, wherein he pretends to believe no one in the DoJ or FBI is capable of doing wrong.

According to Joe DiGenova , the FISA Court Judges are working with DOJ.
The Judges already know who lied to them and have provided this info to the IG

That's how you see or read Comey? Very odd.

From my perspective, I'd guess this would much better depict the reality of his current position.

Not in the legal field. But before retirement I was in an space systems business where making key judgments without understanding the basic facts can cost multi $100M, jobs, and possibly lives, plus I handled a lot of legal issues as part of running major projects. So I try to stay informed and to read up before I spout opinions though there's tons of mis- and disinformation to sift through.
