Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said that while it’s “good news” there was “insufficient evidence” to charge President Trump with conspiracy or obstruction, he was dismayed by the “pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection” by Trump and those around him. In the Friday statement, Romney said he was pleased the “business of government” could now “move on.” “The alternative would have taken us through a wrenching process with the potential for constitutional crisis,” he wrote. “Even so, I am sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President.” The senator also said he was “appalled” that those in Trump’s campaign “welcomed help from Russia” and none of them informed U.S. law enforcement. “Reading this report is a sobering revelation of how far we have strayed from the aspirations and principals of the founders,” he wrote.

Romney’s problem is called envy. It’s a sin, Mitt. I used to say that Romney was maybe the best person to run for President, but not the best politician. I take that back about being the best person. I suspect Obama may have used the FBI and CIA to spy on Romney’s campaign in 2012, but because Obama won, we never heard about it.
Obama perpetrated the greatest political crime in US history, spying on an opposing political party during the campaign and then sought to hobble the current administration. And Mitt’s focus is on Donald Trump.
Now that McCain is dead, we have a new person to hate just as much!
That was my favorite part of the campaign as well.
Sadly, Mitch recently recommended that GOP Senators might fare better if they run independent of PDJT.

Career politicians, of any stripe, are generally small people who should never hold public office. That’s just the reality of our system. Not that one has to be a genius to be a great leader, but one has to stand for something other than personal stature in order to achieve something worthwhile in public office. Unfortunately, politics is filled with shallow poorly informed narcissists.

Much of that does describe Mitt, but most politicians today are team players.
They may love the limelight and crave the adulation of crowds, but they subordinate themselves to what the party wants.
Mitt is the way he is because he's more of an amateur - the rich guy playing at politics - than a professional.
My theory is that he was messed up by having to appear to be some kind of model or good example.
Now he's convinced that he is one and freely passes judgement on people.
It could be something that he does because of some deeper insecurity.
Ironically the ONLY PERSON who could have prevented a Trump presidency was Romney. He had Obama by the ropes after the first debate in 2012, and then simply folded and let Obama get re-elected. Had Romney won in 2012, it’s very unlikely that Trump would have run in 2016, or any time later.
We still don’t know why Romney folded. Perhaps that Deep State that Romney seems to love had monitored him and had the goods on him...hopefully some day Romney comes clean here, he owes the country an explanation for his behavior back then.
