People who vote their way into socialism eventually have to shoot their way out...

The Venezuelans got themselves into this mess; they have to get themselves out of it...Humanitarian aid if possible, yes; but NO US military intervention...We have our own problems with the homegrown variety socialist human weeds...

Sorry but they actually voted in opposition party’s Capriles Radonski in the last election but Maduro rigged the polls with the controlling CNE and eeked out a ballot box stuffing “win” at 3 am in the morning. That’s why they are pissed and are taking to the streets. We should stand behind them.

No invasions. Ship in arms. They need to solve their own problems. Fix THEIR COUNTRY. Learn their lessons.

Please examine the facts in this case. They did no such thing.

They in fact tried but there were no free elections there in 2012, and then they boycotted the sham, rigged elections of 2018 to keep dictator Maduro in power as a farce, so it would not be legitimized internationally. These are the facts of the matter.

Tough crowd in here.

"If you're stupid enough to vote in the likes of Chavez and Maduro, you're on your own."

Okay.

Once they voted socialism in, especially in Latin America, there was no way out. Their choice is to starve to death from it or to die fighting it. But that was easily known when they voted for it. Why should the US save them from their own folly?

Go back and look at the election campaigns of Chavez and Maduro. I don’t think either one of them campaigned as pro-American. Just the opposite, as I recall. Now we are supposed to help them. Oh, they are drowning? That’s different. I’ll toss them an anvil right away.

“The Venezuelans screwed the pooch by voting in the socialists.”

Chavez and Maduro won fraudulent elections.

They were never voted in. The elections were rigged.

*** More neoconnery ***

There are so many leaked docs on the US plan to collapse VZ, I can’t believe a lot of FReepers are unfamiliar with them.

Plan A (economic sanctions) failed, Plan B (convince military to abandon Maduro) failed. We are now in the midst of Plan C (disrupt/disable the power supply).

The Venezuelans loyal to Maduro are fully aware of the results of the US “liberation” of Libya, Syria, and other countries.

how much of our tax money has to be spent to try to fix Venezuela? Once again our roads and crumbling infrastructure must wait And remember, we can’t afford to pay seniors their full social security, and must cut cut cut - but we CAN afford to butt into Venezuala

We should stand behind them.

How many US troops do you want sent in? And what cost to our treasury are you ok with?

Ike sent his VP, Nixon, to Venezuela in the early ‘60’s and the natives threw stones at him and spiced the photo ops with crude signs reading “Yanqui go home”.

Crap. Even WE voted for Socialism. Once and then threw it out. 1976. And we corrected matters in 1980. Everybody makes painful mistakes.

I would say 5,000 or so, led by elite forces would be sufficient. Probably a 3/4 daily operation to topple the FANB, but there would be many defections. I suggest maybe at least 0.7 percent of our national budget should do it. We owe it to our fellow Americans.I think this was in fact the general figure in mind leaked on that pad of note paper by NSA Bolton to be initially sent to Colombia.

How much will it cost? Not “percentage of budget” but tax dollars and cents If we demand that AOC tell us what her wish list of government activism will cost, you interventionists and foreign nation-builders should also give a price tag for your plans
