New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday that NYC's public schools will be going vegetarian one day per week in order to save the Earth.

Local New York media reports that the "Meatless Mondays" pilot program, which brought vegetarian meals to around 15 Brooklyn schools, will expand city-wide for the 2019-2020 school year, and "all schools will serve vegetarian menus on Mondays" to the city's 1.1 million students.

De Blasio told a press conference Monday that the change will help improve the health of New York's students, and will hopefully have an impact on climate change.

Will they have the ‘Meat Cops’ on patrol, stopping kids from bringing their own meat-laden lunches?

I wonder if kids in NYC are even allowed to bring their own lunch? You know, because they might not bring something healthy.

Maybe if they just pack a couple of ribeye sandwiches in their drug bags they’ll be fine.

They haven’t served me in years what is he talking about? Those burgers are soy burgers and they are meant to turn boys into girls.

Exclusive club? It is unlikely he will ever be invited to join the Brook.

Children are permitted to bring lunch, but ALL NYC students are eligible for no cost breakfast and lunch.

When I was a kid, my mom packed my lunch every day and I brown bagged it to school. The other kids would salivate over my Italian mom prepared meals. If I was at that age now, I'd be sure to bring in the meatball sandwich on vegan Mondays and get the other kids to launch a sit down strike against De Blasio's foolery.

HA! We’ve got you beat by a country mile - the progressives who’ve moved into my State now offer no cost breakfast, lunch and dinner during the school year. They cut it down to just breakfast and lunch when school isn’t in session.

In a few years we’ll probably be paying for free meals for their parents too.

And I did not have to think too long why not Friday?

Not likely to be any mackerel snapping on the school menu.

Guessing that if meatless Fridays were announced in my area, especially now for Lent, there would be little notice.

A few weeks of fish, then sneak in the veggie burgers?
