What to watch for when Biden and Beto launch
Newsday ^ | March 11, 2019 | Jennifer Rubin

In a way, O'Rourke has all the problems Biden doesn't - and few of the deficits that Biden must address. O'Rourke, 46, can raise gobs of money online - and likely will when he enters the race. His Senate race showed he can generate wild enthusiasm among nonwhite voters and young people. He has a vision - healing America, listening to one another, embracing diversity. However, he will be in the spotlight from the get-go, and will have to answer three questions.

First, is he going to run a national, professional campaign or try to wing it with a handful of advisers? If the latter, his campaign will be a disaster waiting to happen and will make plenty of Democrats nervous that he's ill-equipped to take on an incumbent president.

Second, what does he really want to do? "Stronger together" got Hillary Clinton nowhere because it didn't give voters a firm idea of what they were going to do after they got together. Yes, healing and reconciliation, plus optimism and a return to American values, will get plenty of applause. But after that, what will he want to do as president?

Taking Beto (or Biden) lightly is a huge mistake. Beto received more votes (both number of votes and percentage of the vote) as a Senate candidate in a mid-term than either Obama or Clinton as Presidential candidates. He outperformed Obama by a wide margin in Texas and will likely outperform Obama on a national level, and that is serious trouble. Like Trump, he draws huge crowds. Remember the media scoffing at Trump’s crowds, saying he had no chance? Trump squeaked by Hillary by a narrow margin, and she was the worst candidate since Dukakis.

That is the weirdest thing about “Beto”. Talk about “Cultural Appropriation” An ivy educated white liberal pretending to be Chicano.

I must remind voters that Beto O’Rourke did not lose a close, tight race when Senator, Ted Cruz defeated him on election night by some 220,000 votes. Had Senator, Cruz not been such a fool at the Republican, 2016 POTUS Convention, he would have easily beaten O’Rourke by over a 700,000 vote margin, which is what Governor, Greg Abbott defeated his Democrat opponent by.

As for Biden...he will most likely be nominated by the Democrat Party to run against, POTUS, Donald J. Trump. The Democrats have no one, and I mean no one else that they can nominate who can defeat Trump.

Of course, Trump will actually wipe up the floor with that idiot, moron Joe Biden with ease.

I refuse to participate in O’Rourke’s attempt to become something he isn’t, i.e. Tex-Mex, Chicano, Hispanic, whatever... From this point forward, he is “Irish Bob” in any post of mine because it is correct and doesn’t allow him to weasel around his brazen attempt to be other than what he is.

"Irish Bob" looks like one of RFK's kids, and that's the only reason he has a fan club. If he had the same ideas but looked like Nadler, no one would give him a thought.

Someone here at FR posted a link to Irish Bob's elite prep school—it's whiter than Wonder Bread in a snow storm.

He is a damned trust baby. Never worked a day in his life. Just hung out in NYC smoking dope and living off of Dad’s big bucks. He is as phony as it goes . He is a big loser at 46 years old trying to be 28 again. Not one legislative accomplishment. He is a big nothing burger. Not even a good speaker. He just mumbles platitudes.
