All is fine until you have an emergency medical condition.

I'm sure the front counter will call an ambulance. Not much different. I think his plan is brilliant and may start a new franchise. Gotta look for the silver lining!

Don’t blame him...just better make sure he gets the handicap room...and stays relatively healthy.

Yawn. Terry Robinson recycled almost 15-year-old spam.

I’ve heard a variation on this, except it involved cruise ships.

Some of the same word phrases, and same cost of $188.00 more than 14 years apart:

“With the average cost for a nursing home per day reaching $188.00...”

FAIL.

I always figured a cargo cruise at $100 a day would be a good alternative, but you have to stay in good health for stair climbing. They also don’t generally have a doctor. - https://www.thrillist.com/travel/nation/what-the-hell-is-a-cargo-cruise-magnificent-that-s-what

Years ago a friend checked with a Cruise Ship line along this same concept.

It was considerably cheaper than any retirement home or nursing home with meals all day.

There are people who retire and live on cruise ship, for a cost of approximately $100,000 per year.

I remember a man on a business trip explained to his wife that he needed to share a hotel room with his secretary to ‘cut down on costs.’ She asked Dear Abby for a 2nd opinion.

This is an apples and oranges type comparison.

Comparing a the cost of a nursing home to staying in a hotel is not proper. If someone needs 24 hour nursing care in a nursing home, you won’t get that care in a hotel.

A better comparison would be how much to stay in various retirement communities, where the residents are in good health and not needing constant medical care, vs. a hotel, if he wants to make a comparison that way.

The plagiarist changed TWO digits in these numbers, $49.53 to $59.23, and $138.77 to $128.77.

Original

“I have already checked on reservations at the Hilton. For a combined long-term stay discount and senior discount, it is $49.23 per night. That leaves $138.77 a day for...”

Article about the plagiarist:

“Robinson wrote in the post that reservations at the Holiday Inn cost $59.23 per night”

“That leaves $128.77 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant”

FAIL FAIL FAIL

There’s people doing the same thing on cruise ships.

Myself, I’m thinking a cabin in the woods somewhere, and if the good Lord takes me, or maybe the local wildlife, so be it.

Or maybe just skip that and relax in my comfy chair in suburbia as long as I can afford the power bill and stuff.

Whatevah. Not there yet.

Holiday Inn

Album: Madman Across The Water
Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin
Piano and vocals: Elton John
Drums: Roger Pope
Bass: David Glover
Acoustic guitar: Caleb Quaye
Mandolin and sitar: Davey Johnstone
Backing vocals: Lesley Duncan, Sue Glover, Sunny Leslie, Barry St. John, Liza Strike, Roger Cook, Tony Burrows, Terry Steele, Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson

Boston at last and the plane’s touching down
Our hostess is handing the hot towels around
From a terminal gate to a black limousine
It’s a ten minute ride to the Holiday Inn
Boredom’s a pastime that one soon acquired
Where you get to the stage where you’re not even tired
Kicking your heels till the time comes around
To pick up your bags and head out of town

chorus:
Slow down Joe, I’m a rock and roll man
I’ve twiddled my thumbs in a dozen odd bands
And you ain’t seen nothing till you’ve been
In a motel baby like the Holiday Inn

(repeat chorus)

Oh I don’t even know if it’s Cleveland or Maine
With the buildings as big and rooms just the same
And the TV don’t work and the french fries are cold
And the room service closed about an hour ago

Some rich folk spend their later years
with permanent residence on cruise liners.
I could do that ... well, except for the money part.

Most people don’t need a nursing home until they have trouble dressing, bathing, cooking, shopping, etc. Many have trouble with seeing. Some have mental issues like dementia or extreme short term memory loss.

If you can live in a hotel, you don’t need a nursing home. It is when you NEED the assistance a nursing home is supposed to provide, that you can’t get around a hotel yourself.

Plan is a complete fail. He is wasting his money on a hotel when he can just live at home as long as he is mobile and can take care of himself.
