New Yorkers fleeing to Florida need to leave their terrible blue state policies behind as well
Fox News ^ | 17 February 2019 | Ed Pozzuoli

Back in the day, my native New York State feasted on the iconic I♡NY ad campaign, enticing Americans to drop in and spend their dollars in the Big Apple.

But now, we’re being treated to the spectacle of the state’s governor selling… not New York, but Florida!

In a recent press conference, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed a $2.3 billion budget deficit in New York on the compounding effect of federal tax reform on the state’s sky-high taxes. And according to the Wall Street Journal, “(Cuomo) specifically mentioned Florida as an attractive option for New Yorkers who are unhappy with the change in the tax law.”

The Journal article also points out, “Preliminary data show a jump in Florida home purchases by buyers from high-tax states.”

[Snip]

For us freedom-loving Floridians, however, there's a rub. It seems all too many blue-state refugees, having found haven from tax-spend-regulate oppressors, turn around and import the very same blue-state politics that caused them to flee in the first place.

Maybe one party politics is the way to go. Conservatives can probably get more done in a one party system because they will not be as easily labeled. Face it an elephant is big target.

Exactly and that is why I would love to see a state like Georgia(my home), for example, to try and implement something like an Electoral College. I cannot think of one reason why the mobs, that densely populate the cities, get to tell the rest of us what to do.

Heck, if most states did something like that, the US Senate would have about 66+, Republican Senators. Not that that means a whole heck of a lot when you have Cornyn, Scott, Rubio, Thune, Barasso, Ernst, Gardner, Isaacson, Shelby, etc etc. But, on occasion I think they’d be able to pull something off that would be supportive of us and the President.

One can hope.

Yankees who moved to Florida post WWII brought big city social liberal politics with them

This last migration won’t be any different

The once social conservative south changes whenever they come in

North Carolina

Florida

Virginia

Metro Atlanta

Nashville proper

They have impacted Texas but the native population of Texas sorta held em off but now it’s the brown wave gonna get Texas

They ruined Colorado too btw

Not much we can do to thwart populations sad to say

Hope their kids maybe absorb local mores

Here in Nashville I see Yankee kids go native frequently

Y’all and deer hunting and whatnot....who knows

Some Yankees are legit political refugees looking for a better life to be fair .

I know quite a few

My son had prolly 6-7 high school friends stay over Saturday nite

All but one are from northern families...or Kali

The kids have been here for a decade minimum and have gone native .....

Accents and opinions

There isn't a single state that is becoming more conservative.

Trump promised to deport all illegals and to date has not.

Now that it looks like Ivanka & Jared are running the show we should be lucky to still speak English, for how long I'm not sure.

We’re the kids polite, respectful in your home. Are they a positive influence on your children? I guess their big, bad northern parents raised them right.

So now wwII veterans who saved the world moved south and ruined your states? They moved from cities to the suburbs and brought values of God, family and country with them.

You said post WWII. There is only one reason to move to FLA and that’s taxes. You got hurricanes and unbearable heat and humidity in the summer. My parents wanted to give me property in Jupiter, but I declined. NY Democratic Jewish moved to SE Fla. I’m more of a Naples Midwestern type.

5 northeast, yankee, states border Canada. You can’t go north if you don’t want you be in Canada. If you go east you are in the Atlantic ocean. ONly options left are west or south.

I’m thinking about FL, or someplace gated with a rock solid HOA. I would love Wyoming but I would need more retirement dollars to ever make that happen. My sister lives in TN, bought a nice cheap farm 30 years ago, probably can’t sell it, too old to effectively work it, and wants to declutter and relax.

Oceanside or Gulf it don’t matter, but the insecticide levels worry me a bit.

There is a solution for this and it’s called a transfer tax.

I’ve seen a lot of this when I lived in Charlotte. Many of the relocated New Yorkers are former state and local government workers, along with retired cops and firefighters. All of them are pulling full New York pensions at a young age (40s) for the rest of their lives. It’s not a small payment. My former transit cop neighbor is making $85k per year — starting at age 41.

I’m certain that New York taxpayers did not plan for tax-supported workers to take their tax-funds pensions and not pay taxes back into the system after they retired.

It’s actually quite disgusting.

“New Yorkers are a true cancer to a society.”

Many of them come from a place where they look down upon the “hayseeds”, the “morons”, the “redneck idiots” of the southern U.S.

Those redneck idiots are usually the first ones to put themselves on the line and sacrifice themselves in the face of fascist and communist tyranny.

Now, many from New York are seeking to vote tyranny into office, disregard the Constitution and convince themselves that they’re enlightened, Progressive, intellectual geniuses who know better than anyone else.

IMHO

“New Yorkers are a true cancer to a society.”

****************************************

I was at a Duffy’s on a Sunday sitting at the packed bar, a couple from NY (snowbirds) came in asked me to move so they could watch the game. You see they explained to me that those were their seats and they sit there every Sunday.

I laughed, and stayed seated longer than I planed.

“I laughed, and stayed seated longer than I planned.”

Good for you!!! (It’s a well-known ruse used up heer by scu&bags.)

How irritating it must have been.

Some idiots from New York, thinking they’re among a bunch of rubes, will subvert anything they can get their hands for their petty benefit.

(The problem in New York is that one has to back off from scu&bags, because if one doesn’t, the scu&bags will become acquainted with one in civil court.)

IMHO

There are too many junior-high-school adults in New York.

IMHO

Never could understand their reasonings, either.
It’s like foreigners who flee their troubled countries only to bring the troubles with them.
