Hillary Clinton's former campaign chairman John Podesta on Tuesday tamped down on speculation that the former Democratic presidential nominee may seek another White House bid in 2020, calling the idea "media catnip" and stressing that Clinton "is not running."
"She says she's not running for president," Podesta said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."
He added that the former secretary of State was currently "in Puerto Rico trying to help the people, that Donald Trump has abandoned, through the Clinton Foundation. Trying to bring some relief to the people of Puerto Rico."
"I take her at her word. She's not running for president," he said.
Podesta added that Democrats already "have a lot of great candidates out there right now."
"I think the Democratic primary will be a spirited one with a lot of great ideas coming forward," he said. "I think she would’ve been a great president, but that’s in the past."
Podesta's comments come after CNN White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny reported Sunday that Clinton hasn't ruled out making another bid for the White House in 2020.
"I’m told by three people that as recently as this week, she was telling people that look, given all this news from the indictments, particularly the Roger Stone indictment, she talked to several people, saying 'look, I'm not closing the doors to this,'" Zeleny said during a roundtable on CNN's "Inside Politics."
But it’s still her turn.
I feel bad for the people in Puerto Rico, as there can be no doubt she’s grifting the hell out of them right now.
She is under an insane compulsion to seek power to destroy her enemies; which are of course everyone but her. She will run.

That’s a non-accidental turn of phrase, constructed quite precisely to allow enough wiggle room to drive a five-lane blacktop superhighway with a two-lane service road through.
She could of course, have forgotten or misremembered what she said. Or that she in the balance doesn’t believe, but something inside her really believed all along. She could misunderstand her own belief, mistaking it for something else, some more common belief that peasants relate to. She can not believe right at the moment she is speaking but instantly have changed her mind. There could be existing proof that she has already changed her belief, relying on that she quoting herself from some unspecified future time, in a different context. She could not believe it but be wrong anyway. Etc. etc. etc.
When Hillary tells you she is lying, should you believe her?
I believe Podesta because everything he says is a lie.
Wish he’d go for 60 then I’d abort him.
She’s running.

She wants the payoff of it all.

Hillary has millions and is in poor health. So she made one good decision, continue to live like a Queen and enjoy the comforts of her millions and simply take it easy as that is really all her poor health permits.
