Yeah...a good West Texas rain. That barely dampened the sidewalk. Not enough to even measure. It sure didn’t stop the kittens from scarfing down their food. LOL!
Hope you don’t get too much rain. You’ve already had a LOT! Has it been windy there, too? Cold yet? It was nice and warm today even though the wind blew like crazy.

No worries. Just hang out and try to de-stress if possible. Or do tunes roulette and pick what pops up. LOL! I think the best thing is to try to relax, though.

Rachmaninov: Symphony #2 in E minor, finaleThis is one of the greatest of all Russian symphonies and an intense emotional trip. In the finale he doubles the string basses with a tuba for the bass lines. When you hear this live in a good hall, the bass lines rattle your teeth.
I saw Andre Previn conduct this symphony with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in 1988, and it's one of those experiences that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Well darn the luck. I hoped you’d gotten a decent dose. Dust blowing is NO fun.
At least the kittehs’ suppertime wasn’t disturbed. LOL
They say we can expect a couple of inches of rain before it changes over to snow tomorrow night. Wet, windy, and warm tomorrow before the front comes through and the temps bottom out. Gonna be icy through Sunday so I got extra cat litter and dry food to be sure we don’t run out this weekend. I’m in until Monday.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HAROLD ARLEN
Between Get Happy and the work done for Earl Carroll, the team of Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler got a reputation for writing the great rhythm and blues tunes of the era, which were much in demand at the flourishing cabarets. At the heart of the cabaret scene was Harlems infamous Cotton Club, owned by white gangster Owen Madden.
The Cotton Club was the place to be in the Twenties and early Thirties. White customers poured in to hear the bands of Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington, and to watch other celebrity talents, while pouring down illegal liquor.
In later years neither Hal nor Ted remembered just how they became affiliated with the Cotton Club, but they wrote music for the club from 1930 to 1934, turning out two shows a year. And each year they managed to turn out new hits.
SHAKIN THE AFRICAN
Imagine a dance tune with this title being written today, especially by two white Jewish men. At minimum wed be hearing about cultural appropriation. Its 1931 jazz and rap all at the same time.
Don Redman: Shakin the African

Trying to relax is what I’m doing at the moment. Things seem to be calming down now so maybe my brain will slow down enough to think.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HAROLD ARLEN
BROWN SUGAR: LINDA
This recording is a historic document because thats Harold Arlen singing, and he had a fine voice. This is typical dance band music of the era. For once, theres no tuba.

LOL! I didn’t even realize I snuck in and “stole” it.
I hope you were able to get all your shopping done before crummy weather moved in. Looks kinda nasty up there.
We have a big soaker moving into TN now and it’s going to be a weekend to just stay in the house. Wet tomorrow and icy Sunday. YUCK!

EEEK! Snow? Maybe they’ll be wrong. Let’s hope. Smart to get stocked up on cat food and stuff. Hope you got some people food, too! LOL! I don’t blame you for wanting to stay put, that’s for sure.
It’s stil 56 here. That’s supposed to be the high tomorrow, but I really have no clue what will happen. They keep raising the temp predictions. There is snow north of us, moving this way, but there is no indication that it will make it this far south.
