Texas Rangers Hall of Fame pitcher John Wetteland was arrested Monday on accusations that he sexually assaulted a young child three times over two years.

Wetteland, 52, has been charged with one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child younger than 14. The Trophy Club resident posted $25,000 bond and was released from custody the same day as his arrest.

He forced a relative to perform a sex act on him, according to his arrest-warrant affidavit, beginning in 2004 when the child was 4 years old. It happened two other times during a two-year period, the accuser told police.

I wonder when the SJWs will get around to demanding that Robert E. Lee’s house should be torn down or removed from there?..........................

I wonder if he was on Parkinson drugs.

Some Parkinson drugs cause impaired judgment and hyper-sexuality.

Don’t really think evidence is required in the current social/political environment.

There should be a trial by jury not a trial by ESPN (the standard by which all others are measured) and those other guys.

Divorced in 2015. Good chance this accusation is bogus. Even though he retired in 2000 he made $33M in his career, most of it in the late years. With any decent money management he could still have a lot left. The ex may be after it.

“I wonder if he was on Parkinson drugs.”

I don’t think that’s a viable excuse.

How does an ex wife get cash when he is throwing a million dollars at a defense lawyer?

It is not a legal excuse, just an observation.

Yup. After all the false claims in recent years it is a good idea to wait for it to play out.

Remember Duke LaCrosse boys.

Of course if he is guilty, then shoot him.

Does Wetteland have Parkinson’s?

If not, why would he be taking Parkinson’s drugs?

“The girl said something like “you did something that hurt me” “

How do you know the alleged victim is female?

I didn’t click article, could it be some repressed memory or such thing that turns out false? horrible for the victim if it’s true.

He needs to be put on trial and the evidence presented to a jury. Let’s make sure he’s guilty before killing him in some spectacularly gory manner.

I have a hard time with FReepers on threads like this. Nearly every freeper takes the side of the accused child molester. Sure, innocent until proven guilty. I’m proud of our legal system in that way.

But there are hundreds of people who believe my molester is an upstanding person dedicated to his career, who simply loves children. Hundreds. Hundreds if not more have written publicly about how he could never have done the things he was arrested for. And yet I was there; he is guilty even if he didn’t get convicted.

Children mostly do not lie. Victims deserve a chance.

I am glad we have presumption of innocence, but I believe humankind is fallen and capable of just about amy depravity.

Being famous and/or wealthy tends to increase rather than lessen the opportunity for any depraved person to indulge a perverse impulse.

Look at Congress and the Shush Fund.
